Abstract
Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi nirkabel menuju generasi kelima (5G) dan generasi berikutnya mendorong pemanfaatan gelombang milimeter untuk menyediakan kapasitas data yang tinggi. Namun, karakteristik propagasi pada frekuensi tinggi lebih rentan terhadap hambatan sehingga menyebabkan rugi-rugi difraksi yang memengaruhi kualitas penerimaan sinyal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik rugi-rugi difraksi menggunakan model Knife-Edge Diffraction (KED) pada frekuensi 25 GHz, 30 GHz, 35 GHz, dan 40 GHz melalui skenario Line-of-Sight (LOS) dan Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS). Pengukuran dilakukan menggunakan signal generator, antena horn sebagai pemancar dan penerima, serta spectrum analyzer dengan variasi tinggi antena. Nilai daya terima hasil pengukuran dibandingkan dengan perhitungan teoritis untuk mengevaluasi kesesuaian model KED terhadap kondisi propagasi aktual. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman mengenai pengaruh difraksi terhadap propagasi gelombang milimeter serta menjadi referensi dalam perancangan dan optimasi sistem komunikasi nirkabel generasi baru.

The development of fifth-generation (5G) and beyond wireless communication systems has driven the utilization of millimeter-wave frequencies to support high-capacity data transmission. However, signal propagation at these frequencies is highly susceptible to obstacles, resulting in diffraction losses that degrade communication performance. This study aims to characterize diffraction loss using the Knife-Edge Diffraction (KED) model at operating frequencies of 25 GHz, 30 GHz, 35 GHz, and 40 GHz under Line-of-Sight (LOS) and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) propagation scenarios. Measurements were conducted using a signal generator, horn antennas as transmitter and receiver, and a spectrum analyzer with variations in antenna height. The measured received power was compared with theoretical calculations to evaluate the applicability of the KED model under practical propagation conditions. The results are expected to provide a better understanding of millimeter-wave diffraction characteristics and serve as a reference for the design and optimization of future wireless communication systems.
