Abstract
Burung air merupakan kelompok burung yang bergantung pada ekosistem lahan basah seperti tambak, rawa, muara sungai, dan pesisir. Kondisi lingkungan di sekitar Bandara Internasional Juanda yang berdekatan dengan kawasan pesisir dan tambak menyebabkan aktivitas burung air relatif tinggi sehingga berpotensi meningkatkan risiko bird strike yang dapat membahayakan keselamatan penerbangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi, kelimpahan, keanekaragaman, tingkat bahaya burung air terhadap potensi bird strike, serta hubungan antara kelimpahan, jumlah spesies, dan indeks keanekaragaman dengan jumlah kejadian bird strike di area airside Terminal 1 Bandara Internasional Juanda. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada November 2025 hingga Maret 2026 menggunakan metode point count dan jelajah pada tiga stasiun pengamatan. Analisis data meliputi indeks keanekaragaman Shannon-Wiener (H'), indeks dominansi Simpson (D), indeks kemerataan Pielou (J'), frekuensi kemunculan spesies, analisis Sowden-Moora, dan korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ditemukannya 19 spesies dari 8 famili dengan total 2.465 individu, dengan famili Ardeidae sebagai famili yang memiliki kelimpahan tertinggi. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman (H') sebesar 2,06 tergolong sedang, indeks dominansi (D) sebesar 0,155 tergolong rendah, dan indeks kemerataan (J') sebesar 0,796 tergolong tinggi. Analisis Sowden Moora menunjukkan bahwa Kuntul kerbau (Ardea coromanda), Elang rawa timur (Circus spilonotus), Cangak merah (Ardea purpurea) termasuk kategori tingkat bahaya tinggi terhadap penerbangan. Selain itu, tidak ditemukan hubungan antara kelimpahan, jumlah spesies, dan indeks keanekaragaman dengan jumlah kejadian bird strike yang diduga dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik spesies, perilaku terbang, pola aktivitas, dan ketinggian terbang burung. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar dalam penyusunan strategi mitigasi bird strike di Bandara Internasional Juanda. =====================================================================================================================================
Waterbirds are a group of birds that depend on wetland ecosystems such as ponds, swamps, river estuaries, and coasts. The environmental conditions around Juanda International Airport which are adjacent to coastal areas and ponds cause relatively high waterbird activity so that it has the potential to increase the risk of bird strikes that can endanger flight safety. This study aims to determine the composition, abundance, diversity, level of danger of waterfowl to potential bird strikes, as well as the relationship between abundance, number of species, and diversity index with the number of bird strike incidents in the airside area of Terminal 1 of Juanda International Airport. The research was carried out from November 2025 to March 2026 using the point count and roaming method at three observation stations. Data analysis included the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), the Simpson dominance index (D), the Pielou evenness index (J'), the frequency of species emergence, the Sowden-Moora analysis, and the Pearson correlation. The results showed the discovery of 19 species from 8 families with a total of 2,465 individuals, with the family Ardeidae as the family with the highest abundance. The value of the diversity index (H') of 2.06 is moderate, the dominance index (D) of 0.155 is classified as low, and the equality index (J') of 0.796 is classified as high. Sowden-Moora's analysis shows that Buffalo egrets (Ardea coromanda), eastern swamp eagles (Circus spilonotus), red swans (Ardea purpurea) are classified as high hazards to aviation. In addition, no association was found between abundance, number of species, and diversity index and the number of bird strike events that were thought to be influenced by species characteristics, flight behavior, activity patterns, and flight altitude of birds. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for the preparation of bird strike mitigation strategies at Juanda International Airport.The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for developing bird strike mitigation strategies at Juanda International Airport.
