Abstract

PT Petrocentral menghasilkan limbah phosphogypsum sebagai hasil samping proses pemurnian asam fosfat yang berpotensi menimbulkan permasalahan lingkungan apabila tidak dimanfaatkan. Kegiatan troubleshooting ini bertujuan mengevaluasi pemanfaatan phosphogypsum sebagai bahan tambahan pada pembuatan concrete paving block. Penyelesaian masalah dilakukan melalui identifikasi permasalahan, analisis akar penyebab menggunakan pendekatan 6M, studi literatur, perancangan percobaan, serta pengujian karakteristik paving block yang meliputi densitas, porositas, *swelling*, dan kuat tekan. Hasil pengujian dibandingkan dengan persyaratan mutu berdasarkan SNI 03-0691-1996 dan dianalisis dari aspek teknis maupun ekonomi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa phosphogypsum memiliki potensi untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan tambahan paving block dengan komposisi yang sesuai sehingga menghasilkan produk yang memenuhi persyaratan mutu. Pemanfaatan tersebut dapat menjadi alternatif pengelolaan limbah yang lebih berkelanjutan sekaligus meningkatkan nilai tambah limbah industri.

PT Petrocentral generates phosphogypsum as a by-product of phosphoric acid purification, which may pose environmental challenges if not properly utilized. This troubleshooting project aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using phosphogypsum as a supplementary material in concrete paving blocks. The problem-solving process included problem identification, root cause analysis using the 6M approach, literature review, experimental design, and evaluation of paving block properties, including density, porosity, swelling, and compressive strength. The experimental results were compared with the quality requirements specified in SNI 03-0691-1996 and assessed from both technical and economic perspectives. The findings indicate that phosphogypsum can be utilized as a supplementary material in paving block production at an appropriate composition while maintaining the required quality standards. This approach provides a sustainable alternative for industrial waste management and enhances the economic value of phosphogypsum.
