Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan limbah serbuk kayu jati di sektor UMKM, di mana limbah yang dihasilkan secara kontinu oleh industri furnitur sering kali belum terkelola secara optimal. Praktik pembuangan sembarangan maupun pembakaran terbuka memicu degradasi lingkungan dan risiko kebakaran. Meskipun teknologi pengolahan briket dan pelet telah tersedia, tingginya biaya investasi mesin komersial menjadi hambatan utama bagi mitra, yakni UD Sumber Rejeki. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengatasi tantangan tersebut melalui rancang bangun mesin press tipe screw multi-produk yang dirancang khusus agar ekonomis dan efisien untuk memproduksi briket sekaligus wood pellet dengan target kapasitas yang ditingkatkan mencapai 20 kg/jam. Dengan didapatkan spesifikasi mesin yakni, penggerak utama motor AC 3 Phase, sistem transmisi V – Belt pulley tipe A – 40, gearbox WPA 100 ratio 1:30 dan sproket 1:1 rantai dengan jumlah 18 gigi (rantai No.40), lalu poros (screw) dengan material As Ø45mm 5160 Panjang 1000mm, dengan bearing untuk meminimalisir gesekan dengan Seri : 6204 (2 unit), Dudukan :Pillow Block Mountain Bearing Tipe KP001, dengan rangka mesin untuk menopang menggunakan pipa besi 50 x 50 x 2 mm. Selanjutnya metodologi penelitian dilakukan dengan menerapkan hopper selalu penuh, dengan pengujian dilakukan 12 kali dengan waktu yang ditentukan yakni 5 menit, dengan kadar air serbuk kayu jati yang digunakan adalah 10% dan 15% sesuai dengan pengujian yang dilakukan, sehingga didapatkan kapasitas produksi untuk briket sebesar 19,27 kg / jam dan untuk wood pellet sebesar 19,5 kg / jam. Luaran produk yang dihasilkan memiliki dimensi yang seragam, yaitu briket silinder pejal (∅ 30 mm×100 mm) dan wood pellet mini (∅ 8 mm×20 mm) dengan karakteristik fisik permukaan halus rapat dan mengkilap (glossy) akibat terpenuhinya mekanisme perekat mandiri (binderless) dari lignin alami kayu jati. Melalui analisis realisasi biaya manufaktur yang efisien, mesin semi – pilot ini memiliki kelayakan investasi ekonomi yang tinggi serta biaya produksi yang kompetitif untuk diimplementasikan pada skala industri UMKM mitra.

The research was motivated by the problem of teak sawdust waste in the MSME sector, where the continuous waste generated by the furniture industry is often not optimally managed. Indiscriminate disposal and open burning practices trigger environmental degradation and fire risks. Although briquette and pellet processing technology is available, the high investment cost of commercial machinery is a major obstacle for the partner, UD Sumber Rejeki. The research aims to address this challenge by designing a multi-product screw press specifically designed to be economical and efficient for producing both briquettes and wood pellets, with a target capacity of up to 20 kg/hour. With the obtained machine specifications, namely, the main drive is a 3 Phase AC motor, a V-Belt pulley type A-40 transmission system, a WPA 100 gearbox with a ratio of 1:30 and a 1:1 chain sprocket with 18 teeth (chain No. 40), then the shaft (screw) with material As Ø45mm 5160 Length 1000mm, with bearings to minimize friction with Series: 6204 (2 units), Mount: Pillow Block Mountain Bearing Type KP001, with a machine frame to support using a 50 x 50 x 2 mm iron pipe. Furthermore, the research methodology was carried out by applying a hopper that is always full, with tests carried out 12 times with a specified time of 5 minutes, with the moisture content of teak wood powder used being 10% and 15% according to the tests carried out, so that the production capacity for briquettes was 19.27 kg / hour and for wood pellets of 19.5 kg / hour. The resulting product output has uniform dimensions, namely solid cylindrical briquettes (∅ 30 mm × 100 mm) and mini wood pellets (∅ 8 mm × 20 mm) with physical characteristics of a smooth, dense and glossy surface due to the fulfillment of the binderless adhesive mechanism of natural teak lignin. Through an analysis of the realization of efficient manufacturing costs, this semi-pilot machine has high economic investment feasibility and competitive production costs to be implemented on an industrial scale for partner MSMEs.
