Abstract
Pemeliharaan preventif secara rutin, seperti inspeksi berkala serta penggantian komponen kritis (termasuk seal dan injector), terbukti efektif dalam menjaga performa mesin tetap optimal, mencegah kebocoran bahan bakar serta cairan pendingin, dan meminimalkan tingkat downtime mesin. Dalam proses perbaikan, tahapan teknis dilakukan secara terstruktur melalui disassembly, cleaning, inspection, hingga assembly kembali dengan tingkat ketelitian tinggi guna memastikan tidak terjadi cacat maupun kesalahan pemasangan. Laporan magang ini menjadi sarana pengaplikasian teori perkuliahan mengenai perawatan (maintenance) mesin dan alat berat ke dalam praktik lapangan, sekaligus memberikan pemahaman mendalam mengenai proses rebuild dan overhaul engine melalui penerapan metode preventive, predictive, dan proactive maintenance. Sebagai upaya peningkatan efisiensi dan keakuratan kerja di masa mendatang, disarankan adanya penyediaan manual book terperinci terkait pemeliharaan dan troubleshooting injector, peningkatan pelatihan teknis operator untuk teknologi mesin Cummins KTA 38, serta pengadaan tools mandiri di setiap station untuk mengoptimalkan kinerja operasional.

Routine preventive maintenance, such as periodic inspections and the replacement of critical components (including seals and injectors), has proven effective in maintaining optimal engine performance, preventing fuel and coolant leaks, and minimizing engine downtime. During the repair process, technical steps are carried out in a structured manner—from disassembly, cleaning, and inspection to reassembly—with a high degree of precision to ensure there are no defects or installation errors. This internship report serves as a means of applying classroom theory regarding the maintenance of engines and heavy equipment to real-world practice, while also providing an in-depth understanding of the engine rebuild and overhaul processes through the application of preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance methods. To improve future work efficiency and accuracy, it is recommended that a detailed manual on injector maintenance and troubleshooting be provided, that technical training for operators on Cummins KTA 38 engine technology be enhanced, and that each station be equipped with its own set of tools to optimize operational performance.
