Abstract

A pre-feasibility design study of a biogasoline plant using Used Cooking Oil (UCO) as feedstock via catalytic cracking over HZSM-5 catalyst was conducted to evaluate its technical and economic viability as a renewable energy solution supporting national energy sustainability. The plant is located in Cilacap, Central Java, Indonesia, with a production capacity of 116,500 kL/year of RON 92 biogasoline operating 330 days per year. Raw material requirements include 344,347.83 kL/year of UCO and 15,840 tons/year of magnesium silicate (MgSiO3) as bleaching agent. Construction is planned to begin in 2027 with a two-year construction period, targeting plant commissioning in 2029, and an economic plant lifespan of 15 years. Economic analysis yields a total capital investment of Rp1.44 trillion, total production cost of Rp2.40 trillion/year, and total product revenue of Rp3,05 trillion/year. The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 16,9% exceeds the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) of 7.19%, with a Pay Out Time (POT) of 6 year, indicating that the plant is economically feasible and viable for construction and operation.
