Abstract
Pipa bawah laut merupakan infrastruktur kritis untuk transportasi minyak dan gas di Indonesia, yang rentan terhadap fenomena scouring (penggerusan) akibat kombinasi gelombang dan arus. Scouring dapat menyebabkan terbentuknya bentang bebas (freespan) dan berujung pada kegagalan struktur. Dalam praktiknya, pipa sering dipasang dalam konfigurasi ganda atau tandem, yang memperumit pola aliran dan penggerusan. Sementara scouring telah banyak diteliti, proses backfilling (pengurugan kembali) secara alami, terutama pada konfigurasi pipa tandem di Indonesia, masih sangat terbatas dipahami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisi celah pengetahuan tersebut. Studi ini menggunakan metode numerik 2D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) dengan perangkat lunak open-source REEF3D. Model numerik akan divalidasi terlebih dahulu menggunakan data eksperimen dari Chusaini (2018). Setelah tervalidasi, simulasi parametrik akan dilakukan untuk skenario scouring dan dilanjutkan dengan skenario backfilling. Variabel utama yang diteliti adalah pengaruh rasio jarak antar pipa (G/D) dengan variasi 1,0, 3,0, dan 5,0 serta variasi tinggi gelombang. Tujuan utamanya adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh G/D terhadap pola dan kedalaman scouring, serta mekanisme dan skala waktu backfilling (Tb*) pada dua pipa. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman baru mengenai mekanisme backfilling pada pipa tandem dan menyediakan data kuantitatif mengenai skala waktu pemulihan stabilitas pipa secara alami pasca-badai.

Submarine pipelines are critical infrastructure for oil and gas transportation in Indonesia, vulnerable to the phenomenon of scouring caused by combined waves and currents. Scouring can lead to free spans and structural failure. In practice, pipelines are often installed in tandem configurations, which complicates flow patterns and scour. While scouring is well-studied, the natural backfilling process, especially for tandem pipes in Indonesia, remains poorly understood. This research aims to fill this knowledge gap. This study employs a 2D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) numerical method using the open-source REEF3D software. The numerical model will first be validated against experimental data from Chusaini (2018). Post-validation, parametric simulations will be conducted for scouring and backfilling scenarios. The main variable investigated is the effect of the pipe spacing ratio (G/D) with variations of 1.0, 3.0, and 5.0 as well as variations in wave height. The primary objectives are to determine the influence of G/D on scour patterns and depth, and on the mechanisms and timescale (Tb*) of backfilling for both upstream and downstream pipes. The findings are expected to provide new insights into the backfilling mechanism for tandem pipelines and offer quantitative data on the timescale of natural pipe stability recovery post-storm.
