Abstract

Keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja merupakan aspek penting dalam menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang aman dan mendukung keberlangsungan operasional. Dalam situasi darurat, keterlambatan penanganan keselamatan sering kali dipengaruhi oleh keterbatasan informasi mengenai keberadaan personel secara cepat dan berkelanjutan. Sementara itu, sistem pemantauan konvensional seperti komunikasi lisan, kartu identitas, atau fingerprint umumnya hanya mampu mencatat keberadaan personel pada titik atau waktu tertentu, sehingga belum sepenuhnya mendukung kebutuhan monitoring yang dinamis di lingkungan kerja. Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi, Internet of Things (IoT) membuka peluang untuk mengembangkan alat pelindung diri yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pelindung fisik, tetapi juga sebagai media pemantauan yang lebih aktif. Salah satu bentuk pengembangannya adalah smart safety helmet, yaitu helm keselamatan yang dipadukan dengan modul dan sistem berbasis IoT untuk mendukung visibilitas keberadaan personel di area kerja. Pendekatan ini menjadi relevan karena helm keselamatan merupakan alat pelindung diri yang umum digunakan oleh pekerja di berbagai lingkungan kerja berisiko. Penelitian ini berfokus pada perancangan modul IoT pada smart safety helmet untuk meningkatkan visibilitas lokasi personel di lingkungan kerja. Perancangan dilakukan menggunakan framework Design Thinking agar solusi yang dikembangkan tetap berorientasi pada kebutuhan pengguna. Luaran dari penelitian ini berupa prototype smart safety helmet beserta rancangan sistem monitoring yang mendukung pemantauan keberadaan personel secara lebih aktif. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam pengembangan alat pelindung diri berbasis IoT yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pelindung fisik, tetapi juga mendukung peningkatan monitoring keselamatan kerja.

Occupational health and safety is an essential aspect of creating a safe working environment and supporting operational continuity. In emergency situations, delayed response is often influenced by limited access to fast and continuous information regarding personnel whereabouts. Meanwhile, conventional monitoring systems such as verbal communication, ID cards, or fingerprint attendance generally only record personnel presence at certain points or times, and therefore do not fully support dynamic monitoring needs in the workplace. Along with technological advancement, the Internet of Things (IoT) offers opportunities to develop personal protective equipment that functions not only as physical protection but also as a more active monitoring medium. One example is a smart safety helmet, namely a safety helmet integrated with IoT-based modules and systems to support personnel location visibility in the work area. This approach is relevant because safety helmets are among the most commonly used personal protective equipment in various high-risk working environments. This study focuses on designing an IoT module for a smart safety helmet to improve personnel location visibility in the workplace. The design process employs the Design Thinking framework to ensure that the developed solution remains user-oriented. The output of this study is a smart safety helmet prototype along with a monitoring system design that supports more active personnel monitoring. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the development of IoT-based personal protective equipment that functions not only as physical protection, but also as a means to improve occupational safety monitoring.
