Abstract

Sehingga diperlukan upaya revitalisasi Situs Sangiran melalui produk kontemporer.

The Sangiran site is a cultural heritage site recognized by UNESCO as a center of human evolution and the history of civilization, partially located in Sragen Regency, Central Java. All potential aspects of the site, such as human and animal fossils and artifacts, have been found to represent the sequence of life, culture, and environmental changes over more than two million years. The Sangiran Site holds significant value in shaping identity, yet it remains largely unknown to the public, especially outside the Sragen region. Therefore, there is a need to revitalize the Sangiran Site through contemporary products. Accessories serve as a strategic medium in cultural revitalization efforts because they can function as a medium for cultural storytelling. The category of accessories in the waist accessory segment is experiencing a revival as well as a shift in function toward becoming a fashion statement. This study aims to design waist accessory products by synthesizing elements from the Sangiran Site collection using the transformation artefact theory and semantics as an approach to the design transformation process. Data collection methods included primary data from in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and observations, as well as secondary data from the literature and previous studies. A kinetic system was implemented to create dynamic interactions between the product and the user, thereby enhancing the user experience and the accessory's symbolic meaning. The research results consist of three series of statement belt designs, namely MULA, KALA, and KAYA. Through products that translate the archaeological values of the Sangiran Site, it is expected to contribute to the development of culture-based products and expand the application of kinetic systems in accessory products.
