Abstract

Meskipun beroperasi di pasar pupuk yang terus bertumbuh, PT Agrofarm Nusaraya mengalami penurunan profitabilitas dan peningkatan tekanan biaya, yang mengindikasikan adanya potensi inefisiensi pada tingkat produk. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi efisiensi operasional produk pupuk di PT Agrofarm Nusaraya serta mengidentifikasi produk acuan (benchmark) dan sumber inefisiensi yang memengaruhi daya saing biaya. Untuk itu, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) diterapkan sebagai metode pengukuran efisiensi non-parametrik. Penelitian ini menggunakan model DEA Banker, Charnes, and Cooper (BCC) berorientasi input dengan asumsi Variable Returns to Scale. Sebanyak dua puluh empat produk pupuk diperlakukan sebagai Decision Making Units (DMU), dengan biaya bahan baku, jam tenaga kerja, dan konsumsi energi sebagai input, serta nilai produksi, laba kotor, dan tingkat non-defect sebagai output, berdasarkan data tahun 2024 dari catatan operasional internal perusahaan. Hasil menunjukkan hanya sebagian kecil produk yang berada pada frontier efisiensi, sementara sebagian besar menunjukkan inefisiensi yang bervariasi. Analisis proportionate movement dan slack mengungkapkan inefisiensi terutama disebabkan penggunaan bahan baku dan konsumsi energi yang berlebihan. Analisis produktivitas yang memperhitungkan biaya overhead menunjukkan efisiensi operasional dan kinerja ekonomi tidak selalu sejalan. Secara keseluruhan, inefisiensi pada tingkat produk berkontribusi terhadap tekanan biaya dan menurunnya daya saing harga, dan DEA terbukti menjadi kerangka kerja sistematis dan praktis untuk mengevaluasi efisiensi serta mendukung pengambilan keputusan manajerial dalam manufaktur pupuk. Despite operating in a growing fertilizer market, PT Agrofarm Nusaraya has experienced declining profitability and increasing cost pressure, indicating potential inefficiencies at the product level. This study aims to evaluate the operational efficiency of fertilizer products at PT Agrofarm Nusaraya and to identify benchmark products and sources of inefficiency that affect cost competitiveness. To achieve this objective, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is applied as a non-parametric efficiency measurement method. This study employs an input-oriented Banker, Charnes, and Cooper (BCC) DEA model under the assumption of Variable Returns to Scale. A total of twenty-four fertilizer products are treated as Decision Making Units (DMUs). The analysis uses raw material cost, labor hours, and energy consumption as input variables, while production value, gross profit, and non-defect rate are used as output variables. The analysis is based on cross-sectional data for the year 2024 obtained from internal operational records of the company. The results indicate that only a limited number of fertilizer products operate on the efficiency frontier, while the majority exhibit varying degrees of inefficiency. Benchmark analysis shows that efficient products, particularly those associated with more standardized production processes, serve as internal references for inefficient products. Proportionate movement and slack analyses reveal that inefficiency is primarily driven by excessive raw material usage and energy consumption. Furthermore, productivity analysis incorporating overhead cost demonstrates that operational efficiency and economic performance do not always align, explaining why some products struggle to compete on price despite being technically efficient. Overall, the findings confirm that product-level operational inefficiency contributes to cost pressure and reduced pricing competitiveness at PT Agrofarm Nusaraya. This study demonstrates that DEA provides a systematic and practical framework for evaluating product-level efficiency, supporting targeted improvement initiatives, and enhancing managerial decision-making in fertilizer manufacturing.
