Abstract

Tenun tangan merupakan warisan budaya Indonesia yang menghadapi tantangan rendahnya relevansi di kalangan generasi muda serta persaingan yang semakin ketat dengan tren fast fashion. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai tradisional tenun tangan ke dalam produk fungsional melalui perancangan tas wanita bergaya etnik-modern dengan pendekatan mixed material. Analisis dilakukan terhadap kebutuhan dan preferensi perempuan urban berusia 22–32 tahun untuk menyelaraskan aspek estetika budaya dengan tuntutan fungsionalitas sehari-hari, seperti bobot yang ringan, ergonomi, serta kemudahan perawatan. Melalui eksplorasi kombinasi material, penelitian ini merumuskan kriteria desain yang tidak hanya mengandalkan narasi visual dan storytelling budaya, tetapi juga kualitas konstruksi yang adaptif terhadap gaya hidup kontemporer. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi solusi inovatif dalam menghadirkan produk kriya lokal yang kompetitif di pasar modern sekaligus memperkuat upaya pelestarian eksistensi tenun melalui adaptasi desain yang relevan.

Hand weaving is an Indonesian cultural heritage that faces challenges due to its declining relevance among younger generations and intense competition from fast fashion trends. This study aims to integrate the traditional values of hand weaving into functional products through the design of ethnic-modern women's bags using a mixed-material approach. An analysis was conducted to identify the needs and preferences of urban women aged 22–32 years in order to harmonize cultural aesthetics with everyday functional requirements, including lightweight construction, ergonomic design, and ease of maintenance. Through the exploration of material combinations, this study formulates design criteria that emphasize not only visual narratives and cultural storytelling but also construction quality that is adaptable to contemporary lifestyles. The findings are expected to provide an innovative solution for developing competitive local craft products in the modern market while strengthening efforts to preserve the existence of hand weaving through relevant design adaptations.
