Abstract

Jalan Tol Yogyakarta–Bawen terdiri atas struktur at grade dan struktur elevated.

The Yogyakarta–Bawen Toll Road consists of at-grade and elevated structures. The Elevated 2 structure employs a single-pier system that serves as the primary structural element in resisting vertical and lateral loads. Since this toll road is located in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, which has a high level of seismic hazard, evaluating the seismic performance of the single-pier structure is important because this structural system exhibits a greater sensitivity to lateral deformation than portal piers. Previous nonlinear static (pushover analysis) studies on the Yogyakarta–Bawen Toll Road have focused on the seismic performance evaluation of portal piers. Therefore, an evaluation of the single-pier structure is required to complement the seismic performance assessment of the two pier types used along the toll road. Accordingly, this study aims to evaluate the seismic performance of the single-pier structure through the analysis of structural response characteristics and the influence of soil–foundation interaction. The study began with a literature review, data collection, and the determination of analysis parameters. Subsequently, verification and validation of the modeling and analysis parameters to be used in the single-pier analysis were carried out. Verification was conducted using a single-column specimen based on a reference journal by applying the same parameters, while validation was performed by comparing the resulting capacity curve with the capacity curve presented in the reference journal. The verified and validated analysis parameters were then applied to the single-pier analysis. Prior to the analysis, the complete Elevated 2 structure was modeled to obtain the Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) support reactions, which were subsequently used as loading inputs for the substructure model consisting of four single piers, namely Pier P37, P38, P39, and P40. Nonlinear static (pushover analysis) was then performed on each pier under fixed-base and Spring-support conditions to evaluate the structural response characteristics and seismic performance. The results indicate that foundation modeling affects the nonlinear response of the single-pier structure. The Spring-support model provides greater deformation capacity than the fixed-base model due to soil–foundation interaction. The performance evaluation shows that all piers remain within the Immediate Occupancy (IO) and Life Safety (LS) performance levels without reaching Collapse Prevention (CP), indicating that the structure satisfies the required seismic performance criteria and remains safe under the design earthquake.
