Abstract
Pada penelitian ini material HKUST-1 dan Ni-HKUST-1 dengan variasi rasio
mol Ni/Cu sebesar 0/20, 1/19, 2/18, 4/16 dan 6/14 serta penambahan 2 mmol asam
asetat sebagai modulator telah berhasil disintesis dengan metode solvotermal pada
suhu 120 °C selama 12 jam. Struktur dan morfologi Ni-HKUST-1 memiliki
kesamaan dengan HKUST-1, yang dibuktikan dengan hasil karakterisasi XRD, FTIR
dan SEM. Masuknya ion logam Ni2+ dalam HKUST-1 dibuktikan dengan hasil
karakterisasi SEM-EDX. Hasil karakterisasi dengan adsorpsi-desorpsi N2
menunjukkan luas permukaan Ni-HKUST-1 lebih besar dibandingkan dengan
HKUST-1. Penambahan modulator asam asetat mampu meningkatkan kristalinitas,
memperbesar luas permukaan dan memperkecil ukuran pertikel HKUST-1. Hasil
uji aktivitas menunjukkan bahwa Ni-HKUST-1 aktif untuk katalis esterifikasi
PFAD. Doping ion Ni2+ dan penambahan modulator dapat meningkatan konversi
FFA dan yield biodiesel.

HKUST-1 and Ni-HKUST-1 materials with various Ni/Cu mol ratio, i.e. 0/20,
1/19, 2/18, 4/16 and 6/14 and the addition of 2 mmol acetic acid as the modulator
have been successfully synthesized by the solvothermal method at 120 °C for 12
hours. XRD, FT-IR, SEM and TGA characterization show that structure and
morphology of Ni-HKUST-1 are similar with HKUST-1. The existence of Ni2+
metal ions in HKUST-1 are evidenced by the results of SEM-EDX characterization.
Characterization with N2 adsorption-desorption show that specific surface area of
Ni-HKUST-1 is greater than HKUST-1. The addition of acetic acid modulator is
able to improve the crystallinity, enlarge a specific area and reduce the particle’s
size of HKUST-1. Catalytic activity test showed that the Ni-HKUST-1 is active for
esterification PFAD reaction. Doping Ni2+ ions and the addition of modulator may
increase the conversion of FFA and yield of biodiesel.
