Abstract
Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara penghasil kelapa terbesar dengan luas perkebunan mencapai 3,29 juta hektare pada tahun 2024. Konsumsi kelapa muda sebagai minuman menghasilkan limbah tempurung kelapa dalam jumlah besar, terutama dari penjual es kelapa muda. Limbah tersebut umumnya belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal dan seringkali hanya dibuang sehingga berpotensi menambah permasalahan lingkungan. Di sisi lain, perkembangan tren work from cafe (WFC) mendorong meningkatnya kebutuhan akan fasilitas kafe yang mampu mendukung kenyamanan, fokus, serta fleksibilitas pengguna dalam beraktivitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang set meja dan kursi kafe dengan partisi lepas pasang berbasis komposit serbuk tempurung kelapa muda yang dapat mendukung aktivitas bekerja dan mengerjakan tugas di kafe. Partisi dirancang sebagai elemen fleksibel yang dapat dipasang dan dilepas sesuai kebutuhan pengguna untuk menciptakan kenyamanan dan pengaturan ruang yang lebih adaptif. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, studi literatur, serta eksperimen material dengan pendekatan material driven design untuk mengeksplorasi karakteristik tempurung kelapa muda dan teknik pengolahannya menjadi material komposit. Hasil perancangan diharapkan menghasilkan inovasi pemanfaatan limbah tempurung kelapa muda dalam bentuk material komposit yang diaplikasikan pada partisi set meja dan kursi kafe. Produk yang dihasilkan tidak hanya memiliki nilai estetika dan fungsional sebagai furnitur, tetapi juga mampu meningkatkan kenyamanan pengguna, serta memberikan nilai tambah ekonomi dan keberlanjutan terhadap pemanfaatan limbah tempurung kelapa muda.

Indonesia is one of the largest coconut producing countries, with plantations covering 3.29 million hectares in 2024. The consumption of young coconuts as a drink generates a large amount of coconut shell waste, especially from young coconut sellers. This waste is generally not used efficiently and is often just thrown away, which could potentially add to environmental problems. On the other hand, the rise of the work-from-cafe (WFC) trend is driving an increased demand for cafe facilities that can support users comfort, focus, and flexibility while they engage in activities. This study aims to design a set of cafe tables and chairs with removable partitions made from a young coconut shell powder composite that can support working and doing tasks in a café. The partitions are designed as flexible elements that can be installed and removed according to the user's needs to create comfort and more adaptive space arrangements. The methods used include observation, interviews, questionnaires, literature study, as well as material experiments with a material-driven design approach to explore the characteristics of young coconut shells and the techniques to process them into composite materials. The design results are expected to produce an innovation in using young coconut shell waste in the form of composite materials applied to cafe table and chair partitions. The resulting product not only has aesthetic and functional value as furniture but also enhances user comfort, while providing economic and sustainable benefits by utilizing young coconut shell waste.
