Abstract

Rumah pemuliaan tanaman serealia memiliki peran strategis dalam mendukung ketahanan pangan nasional melalui pengembangan varietas unggul. Di sisi lain, perubahan paradigma kelembagaan penelitian menuntut fasilitas ini tidak hanya memenuhi persyaratan biosekuritas dan sterilitas yang ketat, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai infrastruktur publik yang mengakomodasi kegiatan agroeduwisata tanpa mengurangi kualitas penelitian. Perancangan Rencana Pengembangan Rumah Pemuliaan Tanaman Serealia di Maros bertujuan menjawab konflik antara kebutuhan fasilitas penelitian yang tertutup dengan tuntutan edukasi publik yang inklusif, sekaligus merespons kondisi tapak yang memiliki iklim tropis ekstrem dan potensi ekologis berupa habitat kupu-kupu endemik Troides helena. Perancangan menggunakan Force-Based Framework dengan menempatkan Biophilic Design sebagai paradigma utama untuk mengintegrasikan hubungan manusia dan alam ke dalam kualitas ruang. Pendekatan ini didukung oleh Bioclimatic Design dalam merumuskan strategi bangunan yang responsif terhadap iklim serta Sustainable Landscape Construction dalam mengelola fungsi hidrologis dan ekologis kawasan secara berkelanjutan. Hasil perancangan menghasilkan tipologi bangunan hibrida yang menerapkan dual-flow circulation dan zonasi hibrida, sehingga sirkulasi peneliti dan pengunjung dipisahkan untuk menjaga biosekuritas, namun tetap terhubung melalui antarmuka (interface) visual yang mendukung proses edukasi. Respons terhadap iklim tropis diwujudkan melalui geometri bangunan yang menghasilkan selfshading, penerapan selubung adaptif (breathable skin), serta peninggian datum bangunan untuk mengantisipasi banjir dan mengoptimalkan ventilasi alami. Pada skala kawasan, rancangan lanskap berupaya menerapkan sistem manajemen air zero-runoff dan penyediaan lanskap refugia bagi Troides helena, sehingga tercipta kawasan yang mengintegrasikan fungsi penelitian, edukasi, dan konservasi dalam satu kesatuan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan.

The cereal crop breeding facility plays a strategic role in supporting Indonesia's national food security through the development of superior crop varieties. At the same time, the evolving paradigm of agricultural research institutions requires such facilities not only to maintain strict biosecurity and sterility standards but also to function as public infrastructure that accommodates agro-educational tourism without compromising research quality. This project, entitled Development Plan for the Cereal Crop Breeding Facility in Maros, aims to address the functional conflict between the enclosed nature of breeding facilities and the need for inclusive public education while responding to the site's tropical climate and ecological potential, particularly the habitat of the endemic butterfly Troides helena. The design employs the Force-Based Framework, positioning Biophilic Design as the primary paradigm for integrating the relationship between humans and nature into the spatial quality of the built environment. This approach is supported by Bioclimatic Design, which informs climate-responsive building strategies, and Sustainable Landscape Construction, which guides the sustainable management of the site's hydrological and ecological systems. The proposed design results in a hybrid building typology that incorporates dual-flow circulation and hybrid zoning, separating the circulation of researchers and visitors to maintain biosecurity while connecting them through visual interfaces that facilitate educational experiences. The building responds to the tropical climate through self-shading geometry, an adaptive façade (breathable skin), and an elevated building datum to mitigate flooding while enhancing natural ventilation. At the site scale, the landscape integrates a zero-runoff water management system with refuge habitats for Troides helena, creating an environment that brings together research, education, and ecological conservation within a unified and sustainable landscape.
