Abstract

Pertumbuhan jumlah penduduk lanjut usia di Indonesia menunjukkan bahwa negara ini telah memasuki periode penuaan penduduk (ageing population). Fenomena ini menuntut perhatian serius terhadap penyediaan ruang yang ramah lansia, khususnya hunian yang mampu mendukung kualitas hidup lansia secara optimal. Salah satu aspek penting dalam peningkatan kualitas hidup lansia adalah pemeliharaan fungsi kognitif otak. Atedia Senior Living sebagai salah satu hunian lansia di Indonesia telah memenuhi standar keamanan dan ergonomis, namun belum secara khusus mengakomodasi aspek desain interior yang mendukung fungsi kognitif lansia. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi konsep desain interior berbasis pendekatan gerontologi untuk mendukung kebutuhan secara khusus untuk lansia dalam sisi fungsional, estetika serta aktivitas harian. Hasil akhir penelitian ini berupa konsep desain yang dapat diambil ide nyata dalam pengembangan hunian lansia yang tidak hanya aman, namun juga bermakna dalam keberlangsungan kualitas hidup di masa senja.

The growing number of elderly people in Indonesia indicates that the country has entered a period of population aging. This phenomenon demands serious attention to the provision of elderly-friendly spaces, particularly housing that can optimally support the quality of life of the elderly. One important aspect in improving the quality of life of the elderly is maintaining cognitive brain function. Atedia Senior Living, as one of the senior housing in Indonesia, has met safety and ergonomic standards, but has not specifically accommodated interior design aspects that support the cognitive function of the elderly. Therefore, this study aims to explore interior design concepts based on a gerontological approach to support the specific needs of the elderly in terms of functionality, aesthetics, and daily activities. The final result of this study is a design concept that can be taken as a concrete idea in the development of senior housing that is not only safe, but also meaningful in maintaining the quality of life in old age.
