Abstract

Kolam buatan di kawasan Fakultas Sains dan Analitika Data (FSAD) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) berfungsi sebagai penampung air hujan sekaligus ruang terbuka hijau yang berpotensi terdampak limbah organik dari aktivitas kampus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis komposisi plankton dan menggunakannya untuk menentukan tingkat pencemaran berdasarkan indeks saprobik. Sampel plankton dan air untuk analisa fisikokimia (pH, suhu, DO, TSS, BOD, nitrat, dan fosfat) diambil di tiga lokasi, yaitu di kolam fisika (KF), kolam kimia (KK), dan kolam matematika (KM). Hasil pengukuran kualitas air menunjukkan bahwa air kolam sesuai untuk baku mutu air kelas 4. Ditemukan 46 jenis plankton dari 12 kelas. Komposisi plankton non-saprobik ada 5 kelas dan yang termasuk saprobik ada 7 kelas (Polisaprobik yaitu kelas Oligohymenophorea; α-Mesosaprobik yaitu Cyanophyceae, dan Euglenophyceae; β-Mesosaprobik yaitu Bachilaropicheae, Chlorophyceae, dan Trebouxiophyceae; dan Oligosaprobik yaitu Zygnematophyceae). Plankton terbanyak yaitu Trebouxiophyceae yaitu KF (47,5%-59,1%); KK (32,4%-55,8%); KM (27,1%- 56,5%) dan Bacillariophyceae (diatom) yaitu KF (19,1%-42,5%); KK (22,1%-36,4%); KM (30,3%- 42,3%). Nilai indeks saprobik berkisar 0,80 – 1,14 sehingga dinyatakan tingkat pencemaran pada semua badan air di FSAD ITS tergolong “sedikit”, dengan fase β-Mesosaprobik hingga β-Meso/Oligosaprobik.

Artificial ponds within the Faculty of Science and Data Analytics (FSAD), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), function as stormwater retention ponds and green open spaces that are potentially affected by organic waste generated from campus activities. This study aimed to analyze the composition of plankton communities and determine the level of organic pollution using the saprobic index. Plankton and water samples were collected from three ponds, namely the Physics Pond (KF), Chemistry Pond (KK), and Mathematics Pond (KM). Physicochemical water quality parameters, including pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), total suspended solids (TSS), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), nitrate, and phosphate, were analyzed. The results showed that the water quality met the standards for Class IV water quality according to the applicable water quality criteria. A total of 46 plankton taxa belonging to 12 classes were identified. Five classes were classified as non-saprobic, while seven classes belonged to the saprobic categories, consisting of Oligohymenophorea (polysaprobic), Cyanophyceae and Euglenophyceae (α-mesosaprobic), Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, and Trebouxiophyceae (β-mesosaprobic), and Zygnematophyceae (oligosaprobic). The plankton community was dominated by Trebouxiophyceae, with relative abundances of 47.5–59.1% in KF, 32.4–55.8% in KK, and 27.1–56.5% in KM, followed by Bacillariophyceae (diatoms) with relative abundances of 19.1–42.5%, 22.1–36.4%, and 30.3–42.3% in KF, KK, and KM, respectively. The saprobic index values ranged from 0.80 to 1.14, indicating that all ponds in the FSAD ITS area were classified as slightly polluted, corresponding to the β-mesosaprobic to β-meso/oligosaprobic phases.
