Abstract

One of the main problems in text clustering is data classification involving uncertainty in high-dimensional and sparse text data. In this research, we propose the Max-Max Roughness (MMR) method enriched with similarity terms to address this problem. This method was chosen because it utilizes keywords with maximum roughness in text documents. The MMR clustering system is implemented by constructing a Vector Space Model (VSM) from the documents, performing weighting, enriching term similarity, calculating the upper approximation, and executing MMR clustering. Testing and evaluation in this research were conducted using the 20 Newsgroups dataset. Cluster performance was measured using cluster entropy theory. Experimental results show that the MMR method outperforms FW-KMeans, as the MMR method yields lower entropy.
