Abstract

Atap merupakan bagian dari selubung bangunan yang berada pada bagian paling atas dan sangat memengaruhi tampilan bangunan serta kenyamanan ruang dalam. Besarnya peranan atap dalam pembentukan kinerja termal hunian menjadi dasar penelitian ini untuk mengkaji lebih jauh peranan atap dalam pembentukan kondisi termal pada hunian tradisional. Tiga hunian tradisional dipilih sebagai objek penelitian, yaitu hunian tradisional Bugis, Ponorogo, dan Toraja, yang memiliki bentuk dan konstruksi atap yang berbeda. Fenomena pembentukan panas yang terjadi pada atap hunian tradisional dikaji melalui penelitian lapangan dan simulasi komputer. Ketiga atap hunian tradisional dengan bentuk dan konstruksi yang berbeda menunjukkan fenomena yang berbeda, dengan potensi dan kesesuaiannya dalam memodifikasi kondisi iklim mikro masing-masing sehingga terbentuk kenyamanan termal pada ruang hunian. Selanjutnya, bentuk dan konstruksi atap hunian dioptimalkan melalui simulasi komputer untuk melihat kembali pengaruh perubahan bentuk dan konstruksi atap akibat perkembangan teknologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk atap yang curam dengan material berat (heavy) yang memiliki nilai U kecil memberikan hasil yang lebih baik dalam menciptakan kenyamanan pada daerah sejuk seperti Toraja. Sementara itu, untuk daerah hangat seperti Ponorogo, bentuk atap dengan material sedang (medium), yaitu genteng keramik, dengan kemiringan 45° dan nilai U yang relatif besar justru memberikan kondisi kenyamanan yang lebih baik. Pada hunian Bugis, bentuk atap yang curam dengan kemiringan 60° dan material sirap memberikan hasil terbaik.

The roof is part of the building envelope located at the uppermost part of a building and has a significant influence on its appearance and indoor thermal comfort. The important role of the roof in determining the thermal performance of dwellings provides the basis for this research, which aims to further examine the role of roofs in the formation of thermal conditions in traditional dwellings. Three traditional dwellings were selected as research objects: Bugis, Ponorogo, and Toraja traditional dwellings, each with different roof forms and construction systems. The phenomenon of heat formation occurring in the roofs of traditional dwellings was investigated through field research and computer simulation. The three traditional roofs, with their different forms and construction systems, demonstrated different thermal phenomena, as well as different potentials and suitability for modifying their respective microclimatic conditions to achieve thermal comfort in the living spaces. Subsequently, the roof forms and construction systems were optimized through computer simulation to further examine the influence of changes in roof form and construction resulting from technological development. The results showed that a steep roof with heavy materials and a low U-value provided better thermal comfort in cool regions such as Toraja. In warm regions such as Ponorogo, a roof with medium-weight material, specifically ceramic roof tiles, a 45° slope, and a relatively high U-value provided better thermal comfort. For Bugis dwellings, a steep roof with a 60° slope and shingle material produced the best results.
