Abstract

Cayenne pepper is a vegetable commodity that is needed by almost everyone from various walks of life. The continuously increasing price of cayenne pepper has caused concern among the public, as cayenne pepper is a staple ingredient needed in everyday life. According to data from the Information System for the Availability and Price Development of Basic Materials of the East Java Industry and Trade Department, the price of cayenne pepper in Tuban Regency has increased. The unstable price of cayenne pepper in Tuban Regency has prompted complaints from cayenne pepper traders and the people of Tuban Regency. According to daily news from Kompas.com, one of the factors causing the instability of cayenne pepper prices is rainfall. High rainfall can cause crop failure, resulting in higher cayenne pepper prices. The method used in this study is the transfer function model. The transfer function model is a model that describes the future predicted values of a time series based on past values of the data, along with one or more variables related to the output series. The results of the analysis show that the best transfer function model for forecasting cayenne pepper prices is the transfer function model with orders b, r, s of (33,1,28), with a noise series of ARIMA (0,0,\[1,3,6,7\]) and an RMSE value of 0.017. The cayenne pepper price forecast shows that the lowest price occurred on April 3, 2022, with cayenne pepper prices in April 2022 remaining stable at Rp43,000/kg–Rp44,000/kg.
