Abstract

Infectious diseases remain an important public health problem in Probolinggo Regency. Cases of infectious diseases, particularly tuberculosis (TB) and diarrhea, increased from 2019 to 2020 by 4.51% and 0.54%, respectively. In addition, the number of infectious disease cases in Probolinggo Regency was higher than in the surrounding districts/cities, such as Lumajang Regency, Malang Regency, and others. This is an important issue that needs to be addressed so that the number of infectious disease cases in Probolinggo Regency can decrease in the following years and the regency can have a lower number of infectious disease cases compared to the surrounding districts/cities. Therefore, research is needed to ensure that the measures taken are effective, efficient, and well-targeted. To address this issue, a study was conducted to analyze the trends in infectious disease patterns by sub-district in Probolinggo Regency in 2020 using correspondence analysis. The data used in this study were obtained from the Probolinggo District Health Office, namely the Probolinggo District Health Profile 2020 and a survey on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). The results of this study indicate that most sub-districts in Probolinggo Regency tend to be dominated by diarrheal diseases, namely 15 sub-districts: Leces, Banyuanyar, Tiris, Gading, Pakuniran, Kotaanyar, Paiton, Besuk, Krejengan, Pajarakan, Maron, Gending, Wonomerto, Tongas, and Sumberasih. In addition, Tongas and Sumberasih sub-districts also tend to be dominated by leprosy, while Leces sub-district also tends to be dominated by dengue fever. The health conditions in these sub-districts are classified as poor, as evidenced by the low percentage of villages that have stopped open defecation. Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is also still inadequate because some residents lack knowledge about PHBS and do not implement it.
