Abstract

Keberadaan angkutan umum di Malang belum bisa memenuhi kebutuhan mobilitas masyarakat Malang. Diperlukan sebuah sistem transportasi baru untuk mengatasi masalah kemacetan ini, yaitu Sistem Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). Desain bus harus mencerminkan Kota Malang serta memiliki kelebihan sebagai sarana promosi wisata kota. Selain menarik minat para pengguna kendaraan pribadi, bus juga dapat menarik perhatian wisatawan asing untuk mencoba. Metode yang digunakan pertama-tama mengamati dan menganalisis sistem BRT yang sudah ada. Kemudian, survei disertai wawancara terhadap pihak-pihak yang terkait (stakeholder). Konsep desain adalah city information system. Maksudnya adalah BRT yang dapat memberikan informasi mengenai Malang dengan mudah dan cepat kepada penumpangnya (serta-merta). Konsep kedua yaitu handicap accessibility, di mana BRT ramah terhadap penumpang dengan fisik terbatas agar mereka bisa menggunakan BRT dengan aman dan nyaman layaknya penumpang normal.

Existence of public transport in Malang still can't cover the mobility requirements of Malang society. A new transportation system is needed to overcome this traffic jam problem, such as the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. Bus design must express Malang City and also have advantages as a means of promoting city tourism. Besides attracting private vehicle users, the bus can also attract the attention of foreign tourists to try it. The method used to design first involves observing and analyzing the existing BRT system. Then, a survey is conducted accompanied by interviews with related parties (stakeholders). The design concept is a city information system. The intention is for the BRT to be able to provide information about Malang easily and quickly to passengers (at a moment's notice). The second concept is handicap accessibility, where the BRT is welcoming to passengers with physical limitations so they can use the BRT safely and comfortably like normal passengers.
