Abstract

Banyak penyakit menyerang sistem saraf motorik. Akibatnya
penderita akan mengalami kelumpuhan. Untuk membantu mobilisasi,
penderita memerlukan alat bantu seperti kursi roda.
jaringan otot tubuh (punggung).
memberikan perintah kendali kursi roda listrik.
tipis tingkat keberhasilan menurun menjadi sekitar 60-90%.
pendeteksian.

systems. As a result, the patient will experience paralysis. To help
mobilization, patients need a tool like wheelchair. In patients who
undergo upper and lower locomotor dysfunctions (upper limb and
lower limb), a conventional wheelchair can no longer be helpful
because the patient is unable to use his arms to propel the wheelchair.
Many methods were developed to overcome this problem, the use of
voice, eye muscle movement, detection of the cornea, and others to
replace the role of the human hands. One of them is by using bioimpedance
and EEG.
This final project discussed the usage of two kinds of
biomedical signals which are EEG signal and Bio-impedance to control
the electric wheelchair. Both signal are combined with the help of
Arduino Uno. Recording results are then constrained by thresholding
method to classify and give orders to electric wheelchairs. By merging
the two instruments we can determine which instruments the most
reliable and the most practical for the subject.
Bio-impedance measurement was done by injecting a
sinusoidal current source of 0.5 mARMS with frequency of 50 kHz to the
muscle tissue of the body (back). The voltage changes on the body were
later identified and conditioned to obtain an output voltage ranged
from 0 to 5 V DC. By thresholding method, this voltage is classified into
several movements control signals to a wheelchair. The success rate of
this system varies depending on environmental variables such as the
patient muscle tone, kind of clothes the patient used and muscle fatigue
also environmental conditions. The success ranged from 20% to 100%.
Research results showed that the EEG signal identified at the
channel C3 and C4 can be used to provide control command for
electric wheelchair. By using thresholding method, the system was able
to detect the movement of the subject. The success rate of the classification system varies depending on the length of hair. On the
subject of the hair shaved (nearly bald) the identification success rate
reached 100%, while for subjects with short and thin hair the success
rate dropped to about 60-90%. For subjects with thick and long hair
have a very low success rate only ranges from 0-30%. The results in
this research would be followed up by exploring other methods of EEG
processing to improve the detection.
