Abstract
Ketersediaan bahan bakar fosil semakin lama, semakin berkurang. Hal ini menyebabkan, kebutuhan untuk mencari bahan bakar alternatif semakin meningkat. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, tugas akhir ini membahas tentang bahan bakar alternatif dari biomassa serpihan kayu. Metode yang dilakukan yaitu dengan memproses energi biomassa tersebut melalui proses gasifikasi pada sebuah reaktor, dan memvariasikan nilai Air Fuel Ratio melalui konfigurasi pitot tube dan manometer, serta ukuran panjang serpihan kayu, dengan hasil keluarannya berupa synthetic-gas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu, untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi Air Fuel Ratio terhadap komposisi kandungan synthetic-gas, nilai kalor (LHV) synthetic-gas, serta efisiensi gasifikasi. Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan penurunan untuk senyawa CO dan H2 baik pada ukuran serpihan kayu ± 2-5 mm maupun ± 20-25 mm. Hasil ini juga berbanding lurus dengan penurunan nilai kalor (LHV) synthetic-gas yang dihasilkan melalui pendekatan perhitungan. Dan efisiensi keseluruhan proses gasifikasi terbaik didapat pada nilai AFR 1.21 dengan nilai sebesar 59.39% pada variasi ukuran serpihan kayu ± 2-5 mm, dan 55.43% pada variasi ukuran serpihan kayu ± 20-25 mm.

Availability of fossil fuels is getting longer, decreasing. This cause to the need to search for alternative fuels is increasing. Based on this, this thesis discusses alternative fuels from biomass wood chips. The method to do that is by processing the biomass energy through a gasification process in a reactor, and varying the Air Fuel Ratio value through configuration pitot tube and manometer, and a length of wood chips, with the outcome in the form of synthetic gas. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of variations in the composition of the Air Fuel Ratio of synthetic-gas content, heating value (LHV) of synthetic-gas and gasification efficiency. The results showed a decrease for both compounds CO and H2 on the size of the wood chips ± 2-5 mm and 20-25 mm. This result is also proportional to the decrease in heating value (LHV) of synthetic gas produced through a calculation approach. And the overall efficiency of the gasification process is best obtained at 1.21 AFR value with a value of 59.39% on a variety of sizes of wood chips ± 2-5 mm, and 55.43% on wood chips size variation ± 20-25 mm.
