Abstract

model membran komposit kitosan/asam fosfotungstat terjadi melalui tiga tahap
sampai 101.

The modeling and testing by computation of proton transport mechanism
in the composite membrane of chitosan/ fosfotungstat acid for Direct Methanol
Fuel Cell (DMFC) system has been taken to complete detail theoretical study of
proton transport mechanism and proton conductivity values that occured. The
computational approach using CP2K program package was done by a hybrid
Quantum Mechanical-Molecular Mechanic (QM/MM) method to calculate the
models energy and simulation Molecular Dynamics (MD) with density functional
theory (DFT) to observe the molecular dynamics that occurring on the mechanism
of proton transport in membranes. Data collection techniques of MD simulation
results using umbrella sampling was done to get the right potential barrier of the
process of proton transport and Einstein equation used to calculate the value of
proton conductivity in the membrane.
The results of energy calculations using QM/MM indicates the proposed
model of proton transport mechanism in the composite membrane of chitosan/
fosfotungstat acid is rational happened with the reaction enthalpy ΔH = -
151.942896190 x 103 kcal/mol. The results of MD simulation shows the
mechanism of proton transport in a model composite membrane of chitosan/acid
fosfotungstat occurs in three phases involving symmetrical stretching vibration,
asymmetrical, bending and rotation motion of the molecule. The first step
occurred in proton transport of hydronium ion to water molecules with the
coordinate reactions or O-H bond distance of hydronium ion at 1.318480 Å,
produce water molecules and new hydronium ion. The second step occured in
proton transport of new hydronium ion to the amine group of chitosan produce
protonated amine group of the chitosan with the reaction coordinate O-H of new
hydronium ion at 1.381687 Å. The third step occurred in proton transport from the
protonated amine groups of the chitosan into the ion WO6H5- of fosfotungstat acid
produce WO6H6 with the reactions coordinates N-H of the protonated amine
groups at 1.321110 Å. The proton conductivity values in a composite membrane
model of chitosan/fosfotungstat acid at a temperature of 353 K is 1.659449 S cm-1
with the potential barrier of proton transport was 4.44 kcal / mol. The comparison
of proton conductivity value that derived from MD simulations with laboratory
experiments is 1,647448875 S cm−1 or in the dimensions of 100 to 101.
