Abstract

Performa motor bensin dapat ditingkatkan salah satunya dengan
memaksimalkan asupan atau efisiensi volumetris bahan bakar udara yang masuk
ke dalam ruang bakar, dengan waktu pemasukan yang tepat pada putaran yang
tepat akan meningkatkan unjuk kerja motor. Waktu pemasukan bahan bakar-udara
dalam mesin motor bensin diatur oleh camshaft. Penelitian ini bertujuan ingin
mengetahui karakteristik unjuk kerja motor bensin dengan merubah bukaan katup
melalui modifikasi camshaft.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode komparasi antara unjuk kerja engine
standar dengan variasi dan modifikasinya di laboratorium performa motor
UNESA (Universitas Negeri Surabaya) menggunakan mesin motor bensin 4
langkah 4 katub DOHC, dengan memakai sasis dynometer inersia dengan
memvariasikan derajad bukaan katup intake standar (in open 5° sebelum TMA –
in close 40° setelah TMB) dan derajad bukaan katup intake modifikasi (in open
23° sebelum TMA – in close 56° setelah TMB). Variasi derajad bukaan katup
standar dilakukan dengan menggeser intake camshaft +15° +10° +5° -5° -10° -15°
dihitung dari titik bukaan standar dan variasi bukaan katup modifikasi dengan
mengganti camshaft intake dengan camshaft modifikasi dan juga menggeser cam
intake +5° -5° -10° -15° -20° juga dihitung dari titik bukaan intake modifikasi
Pada penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa menggeser durasi bukaan katup intake
standar -15° didapat peningkatan nilai torsi sebesar 8% dan daya naik sebesar
25% di putaran mesin dibawah 7500rpm, dan pergeseran +5°, memberikan
kenaikan torsi dan daya sebesar 8% di putaran mesin diatas 7500rpm. Untuk
camshaft intake modifikasi, pergeseran -15° memberikan kenaikan torsi sebesar
32% dan daya naik sebesar 31% di putaran mesin dibawah 7500rpm dan untuk
camshaft intake modifikasi dengan pergeseran +5°, memberikan kenaikan torsi
dan daya sebesar 20% di putaran mesin 9000rpm.

Gasoline internal combustion engine performance can be improved either by
maximizing volumetric efficiency of the intake or fuel air entering the combustion
chamber, with a proper timing will increase the performance of the engine. The
fuel-air intake timing in a gasoline engine is governed by the camshaft. The aim
of this study wanted to know the performance characteristics of gasoline internal
combustion engine by changing the valve opening through a camshaft
modification.
This experimental study uses a comparison between a standard engine
performance with variations and its modifications in the motorcycle engine
performance laboratory at UNESA (State University of Surabaya) using a petrol
engine 4 stroke 4 valve DOHC engine, chassis using inertia dynometer by varying
the standard intake valve opening degree (in the open 5 ° before TDC - in a close
40 ° after TMB) and intake valve opening degree of modification (in the open 23 °
before TDC - in a close 56 ° after TMB). Standard valve opening degree variation
is done by shifting the intake camshaft + 15 ° + 10 ° + 5 ° -5 ° -10 ° -15 ° is
calculated from the point of standard openings and opening variations modified
by replacing the valve with the intake camshaft and camshaft modifications also
shift the intake cam + 5 ° -5 ° -10 ° -15 ° -20 ° were also calculated from the point
of intake openings modification.
In this study it was found that shifting the intake valve opening duration -15 °
standard torque values obtained increase of 8% and power rose by 25% in under
7500rpm rev the engine, and shift + 5 °, providing torque and power increase of
8% in the spin machine above 7500rpm. Modifications to the intake camshaft,
shifting -15 ° gives 32% increase in torque and power increase by 31% in under
7500rpm and rev the engine to the intake camshaft modification with shift + 5 °,
providing torque and power increase by 20% at 9000rpm spin machine.
