Abstract

Boiler blowdown adalah proses pembuangan air dari
boiler. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengendalikan air boiler
terhadap parameter yang ditentukan antara lain untuk
meminimalkan scale, corrosion, carryover, dan masalah
khusus lainnya. Blowdown juga digunakan untuk menghapus
endapan yang tidak diperlukan di dalam sistem dan juga
sebagai pengontrol tekanan berlebih pada boiler. Endapan ini
biasanya disebabkan oleh kontaminasi feedwater, internal
precipitates secara kimiawi, atau melampaui batas kelarutan
garam. Akibatnya beberapa air boiler akan dibuang
(blowdown) dan diganti dengan feedwater yang baru.
Untuk menjaga kualitas air umpan boiler selain dengan
chemical treatment juga dengan menggunakan sistem
blowdown, yang secara continuous dan intermittent air umpan
tersebut dibuang untuk menjaga kualitas air umpan boiler.
Adapun permasalahan yang timbul akibat system continuous
blowdown adalah berupa terbuangnya energi kalor oleh fluida
dalam jumlah besar tanpa adanya pemanfaatan kembali energi
tersebut.
System recovery design yang akan dilakukan adalah
dengan penggunaan flash vessel untuk recovery flash steam
yang terbuang saat blowdown dilakukan dan suatu sistem heat exchanger untuk recovery kalor yang terbuang dari water
blowdown tersebut. Recovery flash steam tersebut
dimanfaatkan lagi sebagai steam low pressure pada proses
deaerasi pada air umpan (feed water tank), sedangkan
recovery kalor dari water blowdown menggunakan heat
exchanger akan dimanfaatkan lagi untuk pemanasan pada hot
water return yang akan digunakan pada proses produksi.
Hasil dari perancangan ini adalah untuk mendapatkan
dimensi dari flash vessel dan shell and tube heat exchanger
yang sesuai, sebagai heat recovery boiler blowdown di PT
Nestle Indonesia Kejayan Factory.

Boiler blowdown is process water discharge from the
boiler. The goal is to control the boiler water to the specified
parameters, among others, to minimize the scale, corrosion,
carryover, and other special problems. Blowdown is also used
to remove sediment that is not required in the system as well
as the excess pressure in the boiler controller. These deposits
are usually caused by contamination of the feed water,
internal chemical precipitates, or exceed the solubility limit of
solubility of the salt. As a result some of the boiler water will
be discharged (blowdown) and replaced with a new feed
water.
To maintain the quality of boiler feed water in addition
to the chemical treatment also using blowdown system, which
continues and i ntermittent feed water is discharged to
maintain boiler feed water quality. The problems that arise
are due to blowdown system continues today is in the form of
heat energy is wasted by the large amount of fluid in the
absence of the energy recovery.
Design a system recovery to be done is to use a flash
vessel for recovery of flash steam is wasted when blowdown is
done and a system of heat exchangers for heat recovery is
wasted from the blowdown water. Recovery of flash steam is used again as a low pressure steam in the dearation process
the feed water (feed water tank), while the recovery of heat
from blowdown water using heat exchangers will be used
again for heating the hot water process that will be used in
the production process.
The results of this design is to get the dimensions of the
flash vessel and shell and tube heat exchangers appropriate,
as a heat recovery boiler blowdown at PT Nestle Indonesia
Kejayan Factory.
