Abstract
Kondisi hiperglikemik pada diabetes melitus menyebabkan
peningkatan produksi Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS).
Penelitian pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa kerusakan jaringan
testis tikus akibat hiperglikemik mengalami pemulihan setelah
pemberian terapi Ekstrak Ikan Gabus (EIG). Penelitian ini
bertujuan untuk mengetahui serta membuktikan adanya pengaruh
pemberian terapi EIG terhadap aktivitas antioksidan pada organ
testis tikus (Rattus norvegicus) hiperglikemik melalui pengukuran
konsentrasi malondialdehida (MDA) menggunakan metode uji
Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Subtances (TBARS). Berdasarkan
hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa semakin tinggi dosis
terapi EIG yang diberikan, maka konsentrasi MDA yang
terbentuk akan semakin rendah. Konsentrasi MDA pada tikus
hiperglikemik dengan terapi EIG dosis atas (DA) (71,43 nmol/ml)
tidak berbeda nyata dengan tikus non-hiperglikemik atau kontrol
negatif (KN) (55,31 nmol/ml). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa
pemberian terapi EIG pada dosis atas (2,1 ml/hari) dapat
meningkatkan aktivitas antioksidan (menurunkan stres oksidatif)
pada organ testis tikus hiperglikemik.

Hyperglycemic in diabetes mellitus generates the increasing of
Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). The aim of research is to
determine and prove the therapeutic effect of SHE to the
antioxidant activity in testis of hyperglycemic rats (Rattus
norvegicus) by measuring the concentration of malondialdehyde
(MDA) using the method Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Subtances
(TBARS) test. The research indicated that the increasing of SHE
therapeutic doses is followed by declining of MDA concentration.
The highest doses of SHE therapy of MDA formed would be
lower. MDA concentration in hyperglycemic rats testis with high
doses SHE therapy (2.1 ml/day) showed the significant effect to
lowering the MDA concentration (71.43 nmol/ml) of
hyperglycemic rats and not significantly different with MDA
concentration in non-hyperglycemic rats (55.31 nmol/ml). This
suggests that therapy at high doses of SHE can increase the
antioxidant activity (lower the oxidative stress) in testes of
hyperglycemic rats.
