Abstract
Peningkatan kualitas produk merupakan salah satu kunci dalam strategi persaingan bidang industri untuk mempertahankan kredibilitas dan keunggulan suatu perusahaan. PT Petrokimia Gresik merupakan produsen pupuk dimana kualitas produksi pupuk mendapatkan perhatian utama. Pengendalian kualitas di PT Petrokimia Gresik, hanya dilakukan dengan pengecekan komposisi di laboratorium tanpa melakukan pemetaan plot peta kendali, sehingga tidak dapat diketahui dengan jelas apakah ada peningkatan atau penurunan kualitas. Berdasarkan pertimbangan tersebut maka penelitian berfokus melakukan analisis kapabilitas pupuk yakni pada proses recovery unit. Objek penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah karakteristik kualitas pupuk urea yaitu amonia (NH3) dan karbon dioksida (CO2) yang saling berkaitan (dependen), oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan analisis statistik secara multivariat dengan menggunakan peta kendali T2 Hotelling dan generalized variance. Hasil analisis memberikan kesimpulan bahwa Jam kerja (shift) tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap konsentrasi amonia, dan karbon dioksida. Pengendalian kualitas pada proses recovery unit pupuk urea pada fase 1 dan fase 2 telah terkendali secara statistik, dan proses produksi pupuk urea fase 1 dan fase 2 tidak kapabel karena pada variabel amonia mempunyai akurasi yang rendah.

Improving product quality is one of the key in competitive strategy industry to maintain credibility and superiority of a company. PT Petrokimia Gresik is a fertilizer producer which is quality of fertilizer production gets major attention. Quality control in PT Petrokimia Gresik, only done by checking the composition in the laboratory without mapping the plot of the control chart, so it can’t be clearly known whether there is an increase or decrease quality. Based on these considerations, the research focuses on conducting capability process of fertilizer in the recovery process unit. The object of this research is the quality characteristics of urea fertilizer that is ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2) which are interrelated (dependent), therefore it is necessary to do multivariate statistical analysis using control of T2 Hotelling chart and generalized variance. The results of the analysis conclude that the shift does not affect the ammonia concentration, and carbon dioxide. Quality control of urea fertilizer unit in recovery process of phase 1 and phase 2 has been statistically controlled, and production process of urea fertilizer phase 1 and phase 2 not capable because in ammonia variable has low accuracy
