Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari metode ekstraksi silika dari sekam padi (rice husk), karakteristik mesoporous silika hasil proses sol gel dan surfaktan templating dari sekam padi (rice husk) serta pengaruh temperatur hidrotermal terhadap pembentukan mesoporous silika nanopartikel (MSNp). Pada penelitian ini sekam padi (rice husk) diekstrak dengan metode sol-gel yang kemudian diikuti dengan perlakuan hidrotermal dengan variasi temperatur 85oC, 100oC, 115oC, 130oC dan 145oC dalam waktu 24 jam. Hasil XRD MSNp menunjukkan adanya fasa α-SiO2 serta impuritas senyawa NaCl. Didapatkan pula ukuran kristal yang berkisar antara 6,27 hingga 40,3 nm. Hasil FTIR ekstraksi silika dan MSNp menunjukkan bahwa adanya ikatan Si-O-Si pada sampel.Hasil SEM menunjukkan morfologi sampel yang berbentuk partikel bulat yang memiliki ukuran seragam dan morfologi permukaan yang halus. Dari hasil TEM didapatkan ukuran partikel yang berkisar antara 69,69 nm hingga 84,42 nm. Hasil BET menunjukkn bahwa ukuran pori sampel termasuk dalam klasifikasi mesopori dengan diameter pori sebesar 19,29 nm.

This research’s aim are to study the silica extraction from rice husk method, characterizing mesoporous silica from sol-gel method and surfactant templating from rice husk and the effect of hydrothermal temperature on mesoporous silica nanoparticle (MSNp) formation. In this research, rice husk was extracted with sol-gel method and was followed by hydrothermal treatment, where variable of temperature used were 85oC, 100oC, 115oC, 130oC and 145o within 24 hours. XRD result indicated the presence of α-SiO2 phase and NaCl compound impurities. The result also showed crystal size, ranged between 6,27-40,3 nm. FTIR results of silica from extraction and MSNp indicated Si-O-Si bonds on the sample. SEM result showed the morphology of the sample that have spherical shape and smooth surface. TEM result showed particle size ranged between 69,69-84,42 nm. BET showed that the pore size classified as mesopores with pore diameter size is 19,29 nm.
