Abstract
Korosi dibawah insulasi (CUI) adalah jenis korosi yang menjadi masalah utama yang nyata dan sangat berbahaya di lingkungan industry yang menggunakan fasilitas pipa uap air yang terinsulasi sebagai sarana pendukung proses produksi. Kerugian yang ditimbulkan akibat CUI mencapai 40-60% biaya pengeluaran. Korosi di bawah insulasi ini terjadi akibat adanya udara dan air yang terjebak didalam insulasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi temperatur dan kondisi lingkungan terhadap karakteristik korosi pipa terinsulasi bahan glasswool. Pipa akan diuji pada temperatur 45oC, 55oC, 65oC, 75oC. Dengan kondisi lingkungan kering dan lingkungan basah. Rangkaian tersebut akan diuji selama 14 hari. Untuk menganalisa karakteristik korosi yang terjadi dilakukan pengujian SEM, uji XRD, dan uji Weight Loss. Laju korosi pada permukaan luar pipa yang terbungkus insulasi akan meningkat seiring dengan kenaikan temperature. Sementara hasil pengujian XRD menunjukan produk korosi yang terbentuk adalah Fe2O3, sedangkan hasil pengujian microskop optik dan pengujian SEM menunjukan bahwa jenis korosi yang timbul pada permukaan pipa merupakan uniform corrosion.

Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is a type of corrosion that
is a major problem that is real and very dangerous in industrial
environments that use insulated water vapor facilities as a means
of supporting the production process. The losses incurred due to
CUI reach 40-60% of the cost of expenditure. Corrosion under this
insulation occurs due to the air and water trapped inside the
insulation. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature
variation and environmental conditions on the corrosion
characteristics of insulated glasswool pipe. The pipe will be tested
at 45oC, 55oC, 65oC, 75oC. With the environmental conditions used
are dry environmental conditions and wet environment. The series
will be tested for 14 days. To analyze the corrosion characteristics
that occur in the pipeline SEM testing, XRD test, and Weight Loss
test are performed. While the XRD test results show the corrosion
product formed is Fe2O3, while the results of optical microscope
testing and SEM testing show that the type of corrosion that arises
on the surface of the pipe is a uniform corrosion.
