Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh data
kesetimbangan uap-cair(VLE) isothermal sistem biner 2-butanol +
dietil karbonat dan tert-butanol + dietil karbonat pada suhu 303.15-
323.15 K yang akurat dan mengkorelasikan data eksperimen
dengan model Wilson, NRTL, dan UNIQUAC. Peralatan
eksperimen yang digunakan adalah ebulliometer sederhana yang
telah dikembangkan di Laboratorium Thermodinamika Teknik
Kimia ITS. Eksperimen diawali dengan mengukur tekanan uap
murni masing-masing komponen menghasilkan deviasi kurang
dari 0.8% dibanding data literatur. Kemudian dilakukan
pengukuran tekanan uap campuran biner dengan rentang fraksi mol
0-1. Dari hasil eksperimen, diketahui semua sistem yang diteliti
menunjukkan deviasi positif terhadap hukum Raoult dan perilaku
azeotrop ditemukan untuk sistem 2-butanol + DEC pada semua
rentang temperatur eksperimen. Data eksperimen untuk sistem tertbutanol
(1) + DEC (2) yang dikorelasikan dengan model Wilson,
UNIQUAC, NRTL memberikan AAD sebesar 1.3% untuk semua
model, dan untuk sistem 2-butanol (1) + DEC (2) memberikan
AAD 1.5% untuk model Wilson dan UNIQUAC serta 1.4% untuk
model NRTL.

The objective of this research was to measure isothermal
vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for binary systems of 2-
butanol + diethyl carbonate and tert-butanol + diethyl carbonate
in temperature range of 303.15-323.15 K accurately and
correlating the experimental data with Wilson, NRTL, and
UNIQUAC models. The experimental apparatus used was the
simple ebulliometer developed in Thermodynamics Laboratory of
Chemical Engineering ITS. The experiment was started by
measuring the vapor pressure of each pure component giving
Average Absolute Deviation (AAD) of less than 0.8% compared to
the literature data. Furthermore, the measurement of vapor
pressure mixture of binary with the mole fraction range of 0-1.
From the experimental results, it was found that all the systems
studied show a positive deviation from Raoult’s law and the
azeotropic behavior was found for 2-butanol + DEC system. The
experimental data for the tert-butanol (1) + DEC (2) system were
correlated with the Wilson, UNIQUAC, NRTL models giving 1.3%
AAD for all models, and for 2-butanol (1) + DEC (2) systems
giving 1.5 % AAD for Wilson and UNIQUAC models and 1.4% for
the NRTL model.
