Abstract

Mengkonstruksi ladder diagram untuk proses yang sangat rumit seperti handling, assembly, welding, loading, unloading, sealing dan painting tidak mungkin dapat dilakukan dengan cara trial and error saja, tetapi dibutuhkan suatu metode untuk mempermudah konstruksi ladder diagram tersebut. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk mengkonstruksi ladder diagram ialah metode Huffman. Konveyor sering digunakan dalam industri manufaktur terutama untuk proses assembly. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) berperan sebagai pengendali konveyor dengan bahasa pemrograman ladder diagram. Ladder diagram akan menyusun perintah secara bertahap atau sekuensial. Selain itu, salah satu komponen utama PLC ialah relay yang dapat diimplementasi sebagai fungsi logika. Namun, terdapat batasan jumlah relay yang dapat digunakan dalam satu PLC. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan suatu cara untuk mengkonstruksi ladder diagram dengan meminimalkan penggunaan relay. Metode Huffman merupakan metode klasik yang tepat untuk merancang sistem sekuensial dengan meminimalkan jumlah pemakaian relay. Metode ini akan digunakan untuk mengkonstruksi ladder diagram suatu proses perakitan, lalu diimplementasikan pada plant Dual Conveyor.

Constructing ladder diagrams for very complex processes such as handling, assembly, welding, loading, unloading, sealing and painting can not be done by trial and error, but a method is needed to simplify the construction of the ladder diagram. One method that can be used to construct a ladder diagram is the Huffman method. Conveyors are often used in manufacturing industry especially for assembly process. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) acts as conveyor controller with programming language ladder diagram. Ladder diagrams will arrange orders gradually or sequentially. In addition, one of the main components of PLC is a relay that can be implemented as a logical function. However, there is a limit to the number of relays that can be used in a single PLC. Therefore, we need a way to construct the ladder diagram by minimizing the use of the relay. The Huffman method is an appropriate classical method for designing a sequential system by minimizing the amount of relay usage. This method will be used to construct a ladder diagram of an assembly process, then implemented on a Dual Conveyor plant.
