Abstract

=========================================================== Electrical power system often has faults, especially short-circuit fault. This fault is hard to detect and be handled if it happens in distant distribution networks. The distance, which is hard to detect, makes it difficult to be handled quickly. Using the proposed method, fault location can be estimated considering voltage in substation, short circuit current at bus fault, and line impedance. In proposed method, can be obtained value of x, with x is between 0 until 1, as representation of line distance. In this study, the longest distance error of short circuit single line to ground fault is 1,751 x-10-11 meter, double line to ground fault is 1,091 x 10-11 meter, and phase to phase fault is 4,548 x 10-12 meter.
In this study, the estimation of fault location will be calculated based on the impedance of the unbalanced active distribution system. With impedance-based analytical method, an estimation of the fault location will be obtained and compared with the actual fault location.
