Abstract

PT NPK Jadimas adalah salah satu produsen pupuk yang terletak di wilayah Gresik, Jawa Timur. Terdapat banyak jenis pupuk yang ditawarkan dengan production rate sebanyak 350 ton/hari dengan sistem produksi yang bersifat make to order (MTO) yang menyebabkan banyaknya variansi jenis dan jumlah pupuk yang dipesan. Sistem penyimpanan random storage selama ini berdampak pada sistem order picking yang membuat picker kesulitan mencari barang sehingga waktu proses pengambilan barang cenderung lama.
Metode simulasi diskrit dipilih sebagai tool yang mampu menggambarkan tahapan manufaktur dan tata letak penyimpanan barang tanpa implementasi secara langsung untuk mendapatkan skenario terbaik untuk mereduksi order picking cycle time yang terdiri dari komponen waktu travel time dan process time. Simulasi diskrit juga digunakan untuk mengevaluasi kejadian random yang mungkin terjadi terkait variansi produk dan komposisi pupuk yang diminta oleh konsumen.
Kondisi perbaikan yang dilakukan adalah terkait pembagian wilayah order picking, penambahan titik docking pada salah satu gudang untuk meminimalisasi jarak tempuh material handling dalam melakukan proses pengambilan barang. Selain itu juga dilakukan penambahan resource material handling berupa forklift untuk dapat mereduksi order cycle time secara keseluruhan.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan model simulasi yang dibangun dapat digunakan untuk memperbaiki sistem order picking di PT NPK Jadimas agar waktu proses pengambilan barang tidak memakan waktu yang terlalu lama. Dengan adanya penambahan titik docking dan material handling berupa forklift, jarak tempuh yang tereduksi memberikan pengaruh yang berbanding lurus dengan order picking cycle time sehingga waktu pengambilan barang dapat tereduksi sebesar 39 % dan utilitas forklift sebesar 49%.

PT NPK Jadimas is one of the fertilizer producers located in Gresik, East Java. There are many types of fertilizer that being offered by the company with a production rate of 350 tons / day. Make-to-order (MTO) production system that being used causes the variance of the type and amount of fertilizer ordered. Storage system at the warehouse is random storage and this condition gives some impacts on the warehouse activity that makes picker difficulty finding goods and at the end the order picking cycle time is too long and the working hours is overtime.
Discrete simulation method is chosen as a tool that capable to describe the manufacturing process and the storage assignment without direct implementation to get the best condition to reduce the order picking cycle time consisting of time travel time and process time components. Discrete simulations are also used to evaluate possible random events related to product variance and fertilizer composition ordered by consumers.
The improvement is related to order picking system chancing, by adding docking point and same material handling. Addition of docking point is expected to be able to reduce the distance that must be taken by the picker and the addition of material handling resources in the form of forklift is expected to reduce the order cycle time as a whole.
The result of the research shows that the simulation model can be used to improve order picking system in PT NPK Jadimas so the order picking process does not take a long time. With the addition of docking point and material handling in the form of forklift, the reduced distance gives effect which is significant to order picking cycle time. The reduction of order picking cycle time is 39% and the utility of material handling is becoming 49%.
