Abstract

As the time pass by, the development of offshore exploration and exploitation technology is also advancing. Right now, the cylindrical FPSO or also well known as Sevan Stabilized Platform (SSP) is commonly used as a new concept in offshore technology to ensure profitability in deep water and ultra deep water fields. It is also considered as a lower-cost option for large, deep water projects compared with other conventional FPSO. Its cylindrical hull is also considered as a new promising and effective concept for deep water because of the huge capacity of storage and offloading capability that can reduce the necessity of pipeline uses. This research has been carried out by analyzing the motion of the SSP and the Shuttle Tanker on the process of tandem offloading and also the tension of the mooring lines under the environmental excitations such as wind load, current load, and wave load. Further, observation of using diferent type of mooring system namely Catenary and Taut mooring system. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the structure uses Catenary mooring system has higher motion but with less tension compared to the structure that use the Taut mooring system. On the Stand Alone condition, SSP can safely operate until the significant height of 4.5 m for both type of mooring system, with the range of tension of 1200 kN – 2000 kN for Catenary configuration, and 4700 kN – 7500 kN for Taut configuration. From this research it can also be concluded that the tandem offloading operation with Shuttle Tanker can safely be done below the significant height of 2.5 m for both mooring configurations. The operability of SSP in the operation in the Blok Masela is 73.3%.
