Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi dan semakin bertambahnya jumlah penduduk. Negara maju seperti Singapura, yaitu negara yang memiliki luas wilayah relative sempit, menjadikan trend pembangunan ke arah horizontal semakin ditinggalkan dan pembangunan beralih ke pembangunan arah vertikal. Bangunan yang dibangun secara vertikal seperti gedung perkantoran, apartement dan pusat perbelanjaan umumnya membutuhkan saluran tata udara, baik sebagai saluran pendingin udara maupun mensirkulasikan udara saja. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut, maka dibutuhkan energi yang cukup besar. Dimana dalam penyaluran udara, setiap saluran memiliki kerugian energi. Jika kerugian-kerugian energi yang diakibatkan oleh saluran udara dapat dikurangi maka kebutuhan energi dapat ditekan sehingga energi yang digunakan dapat lebih effisien.
Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode numerik, menggunakan piranti lunak CFD komersial. Model turbulensi yang digunakan k-ɛ standart dengan aliran fluida bersifat incompressible flow, viscous serta steady flow. Model uji berupa saluran udara berpenampang persegi, yang terbagi atas empat bagian yaitu upstream duct (straight duct) dengan panjang 7Dh ,bodi pengganggu berbentuk square cylinder atau bias disebut inlet disturbance body (IDB) dengan variasi jarak l/Dh = 0.1 , 0.3 dan 0.5 , square elbow 90o dengan R/Dh =2, serta downstream duct (straight duct) dengan panjang 15Dh. Variasi kecepatan yang digunakan yaitu 2 m/s, 8m/s, dan 17m/s. pengukuran dilakukan pada setiap cross section pada elbow 900 serta sepanjang downstream duct.
Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini yaitu karakteristik aliran fluida seperti velocity profile, dan vortex aliran yang terjadi pada elbow 900 serta downstream duct yang telah diberi IDB maupun tanpa IDB pada setiap variasi jarak dan kecepatan aliran fluida. Nilai pressure drop pada bagian inlet, outlet dan elbow 900 sangat dipengaruhi oleh adanya IDB. Penambahan IDB ternyata tidak efektif untuk mengurangi nilai pressure drop pada ducting. Adanya IDB seperti menambahkan minor losses pada saluran yang menyebabkan pressure drop naik.

Developed countries like Singapore, Namely a country that has a relatively narrow area, Making the horizontal development trend increasingly abandoned and development turning to vertical development direction, Buildings built vertically such as office buildings, Apartments and shopping centers generally require air duct systems. Both as air conditioning channel and air circulation only. To meet these needs, it takes considerable energy. Where in air delivery, each duct systems has an energy loss. If the energy losses caused by the air duct system can be reduced then the energy needs can be reduced so that the energy used can be more efficient.
This research is conducted by numerical method, using commercial CFD software. The turbulence model used k-ɛ standard with fluid flow is incompressible flow, viscous and steady flow. The test model is a square air duct, which is divided into four parts: upstream duct (straight duct) with 7Dh length, square-cylinder or bias disturbing body called inlet disturbance body (IDB), With variation of distance l / Dh = 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5, , Square elbow 90o with R / Dh = 2, and downstream duct (straight duct) with length 15Dh. Variations of speed used are 2 m/s, 8m/s, and 17m/s. Measurements are made on each cross section of the 900 elbow as well as along the downstream duct.
The results obtained from this research are fluid flow characteristics such as velocity profile, and flow vortex that occur in elbow 900 and downstream duct which have been given IDB and without IDB at each variation of distance and speed of fluid flow. The value of pressure drop on the inlet, outlet and elbow 900 is greatly influenced by IDB. Addition of IDB was not effective to reduce the value of pressure drop on ducting. The existence of IDB such as adding minor losses on the ducting system that causes pressure drop increases.
