Abstract

melalui saluran discharge channel. Belum adanya pemanfaatan air
kW, efisiensi turbin 41,95%, kecepatan rotor 269,3 rad/s, torsi elektrik -

A condenser unit in power plant is used to condense vapor after it
hits the turbine. In this process, condenser requires inlet water as a
cooling medium through heat exchanger scheme. After being used to
condense vapor, the water is thrown away by discharge channel. There
haven’t been any effort to utilize this discarded water so this will be
interesting topic for research in hydro power plant. Data from field
shows the water has discharge rate 7,6 m3/s and head 4 m. That condition
can be utilized by installing hydro power plant components, like: turbine,
gearbox, and generator. The objective of this research is finding
optimum turbine scheme effecting torque, power, and efficiency of
components. One of the parameter is pitch angle, an angle between
propeller and hub. This research is started by determining the type and
dimension of turbine matched with field condition. The results turn out
water turbine that can be used is Kaplan turbine with D (turbine
diameter) 1.08 m; d (propeller width) 0.54 m, h (propeller height) 0.16
m, and Z (number of propeller) 4 units. This scheme is tested by deriving
the torque equation from momentum impulse equation with Simulink
software. The results turn out that optimum pitch angle for this condition
is 17⁰ with torque produced 3.249,7 Nm, power 125 kW, turbine
efficiency 41,95%, rotor angular speed 269,3 rad/s, electrical torque -
143,5 Nm, and electrical power -38,65 kW at optimum gearbox ratio 7.
