Abstract

Turbin Francis merupakan jenis turbin air yang bekerja dengan memakai proses tekanan lebih. Saat ini turbin Francis adalah yang paling banyak dipakai, karena tinggi air jatuh dan kapasitasnya yang paling sering terdapat/sesuai dengan kebutuhannya. Turbin Francis yang dijadikan Tugas Akhir ini terdapat di PLTA Sutami, PJB UP Brantas Karangkates, Malang yang bekerja dengan tinggi air jatuh antara 100 m-300 m dan dengan kecepatan spesifik antara 100 rpm-200 rpm. Turbin memiliki unjuk kerja yang bisa saja naik dan bisa turun. Faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi unjuk kerja dalam turbin ini, yaitu debit air, head efektif, daya hidrolik, efisiensi turbin, kecepatan spesifik dan koefisien kavitasi.
Dari hasil perhitungan dan analisa pada turbin Francis ini, didapatkan head efektif tertinggi sebesar 96,10043868 m, daya hidrolik tertinggi sebesar 29034,88821 kW, efisiensi turbin tertinggi sebesar 82,86866649%, kecepatan spesifik tertinggi sebesar 142,02335 rpm, dan koefisien kavitasi terendah sebesar 0,159510198. Sehingga batasan pengoperasian pada turbin Francis agar mencapai efisiensi maksimum dapat diketahui.

Francis turbine are currently the most widely used, due to the falling water levels and their most frequent capacities/according to their needs. The Francis turbine used as Final Project is located at Sutami Hydro Power Plant, PJB UP Brantas Karangkates, Malang which works with high water fall between 100 m-300 m and with specific speed between 100 rpm-200 rpm. The turbine has a performance that could be up and down. Factors influence performance in this turbine are water discharge, effective head, hydraulic power, turbine efficiency, specific speed and cavitation coefficient.
From the calculation and analysis on this Francis turbine, it is obtained the highest effective head is 96.10043868 m, the highest hydraulic power is 29034.88821 kW, the highest turbine efficiency is 82.86866649%, the highest specific speed is 142.02335 rpm, and the lowest cavitation coefficient is 0.159510198. So, the operational limits on the Francis turbine to achieve maximum efficiency can be known.
