Abstract
Kawasan perkotaan Sumbawa Besar merupakan proyeksi kawasan
perkotaan di Kabupaten Sumbawa. Sebagai proyeksi kawasan perkotaan,
kawasan ini perlu mempersiapkan diri guna menghadapi tantangan
perkotaan di masa depan untuk menghindari berbagai permasalahan salah
satunya distribusi air bersih. Kawasan ini memiliki sumber air yang cukup
memadai akan tetapi pelayanan distribusi air bersih belum merata. Hal ini
diperkirakan karena adanya pengaruh karakteristik wilayah perkotaan
Sumbawa Besar itu sendiri.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimanakah
pengaruh karakteristik wilayah terhadap distribusi air bersih, sehingga
kedepan diharapkan distribusi air bersih jaringan perpipaan lebih baik dan
berkembang di kawasan perkotaan Sumbawa Besar. Metode analisis yang
digunakan dalam penelitian adalah analisis korelasi.
Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa dari lima variabel yang diuji
hanya variabel luas daerah pelayanan yang berpengaruh signifikan
dengan nilai korelasi positif terhadap distribusi air bersih. Dengan
diketahuinya pengaruh setiap karakteristik wilayah diharapkan aspekaspek
yang mempengaruhi pelayanan tersebut dapat menjadi pertimbangan
dalam pengambilan kebijakan kedepannya, sehingga pelayanan air bersih
lebih optimal.

Sumbawa district, for instance, has projected Sumbawa Besar to
be an urban area in the district; therefore, it has to be ready to response the
challenges that are normally encountered when a city starts growing
bigger. As the city start to grow, it should be ready to solve any problems
hampering. The common problem that occurs is a problem with water
supply distribution. This urban area is overwhelmed with water supplies;
however, it fails to keep water well distributed to all different cities in the
district. One of the reasons is assumed to be the characteristics of urban
areas in Sumbawa Besar.
This present study is aimed at analyzing how regional
characteristics have affected the distribution of supply water in Sumbawa
Besar urban areas. In order to analyze the data, the study employs
correlation analysis.
The analysis result of five variables tested, showed that only the
wide service area that significantly related with positive correlation value
to the distribution of drinking water. In conclusion, the study would reveal
the effects of area characteristics so the identified factors that would be
proposed to the Government, as the agent of policy making, can be used as
the underlining point in formulating the policy for better water distribution.
