Abstract
Pemaduan besi dengan tembaga diketahui mampu
meningkatkan kekuatan dengan diimbangi dengan keuletan. Studi
Raw
material berupa AISI 1006 dipreparasi dengan membersihkan bagian
permukaan, proses copperizing dimulai dilakukan melakukan preheat
Berdasarkan
Pengamatan makro seluruh spesimen membentuk lapisan Cu.
renggang dibandingkan 900°C menghasilkan mampu mendifusikan
penambahan Cu maka ukuran butir semakin mengecil.

Iron alloy with copper known to increase to offset the rise to
power of tenacity. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of
the copperizing process compared with the method of casting or
powder metallurgy to determine the percentage of Cu were able to
diffuse, distinguishing physical condition Fe before and after
copperizing, analyzing the phase formation and changes in grain size
due to process and analyze the pattern of distribution of Cu in it
using a variation pre-heat temperature and immersion time. Raw
materials such as AISI 1006 was prepared by cleaning the surface,
the copperizing process begins conducted pre-heat to the steel with
temperature variation of 800°C and 900°C and then dipped in molten
copper for a few moments, a dye which varied between another 3
minutes, 5 minutes, and 7 minutes while cooling is done in air. Tests
conducted on samples include: Observation Macro, OES, XRD,
SEM / EDX, and observations Metallography. Based on the
observation of macroscopic observation entire specimen form a Cu
layer. Specimens with pre-heat to 800°C to form a layer of relatively
more tenuous than 900°C produce Cu better able to diffuse it also
supported from testing OES. XRD results showed that specimens
with pre-heat to 800°C, Cu produces its own phase due to the
composition exceeds the limit of solubility in Fe-α. Testing SEM /
EDX prove that Cu is concentrated at the grain boundaries and form
a distribution pattern from the outside to the inside. Changes in grain
size was also seen after metallographic observation and calculation
methods intercept grain size, the results are in line with the addition
of Cu, the grain size is getting smaller.
