Abstract
Pelapisan logam berbasis besi dan krom umumnya digunakan untuk meningkatkan umur pakai tube superheater dan tube boiler berbahan bakar batubara. Penambahan nikel pada proses ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan sifat adhesifnya. Metoda yang paling umum digunakan adalah metoda thermal spray coating. Kelebihan metode ini adalah mudah dalam pelaksanaan, perbaikan dan segi biayanya. Perlakuan post-heat treatment terhadap coating yang diaplikasi dengan metode thermal spray dapat meningkatkan kualitas coating yaitu peningkatan sifat adhesive, penurunan jumlah porositas, pengaruh terhadap ketahanan aus, pengaruh terhadap fracture toughness dan pengaruh terhadap ketahanan oksidasi. Dalam penelitian ini post-annealing dilakukan pada temperature 500oC, 600oC dan 700oC ditahan selama 3 jam di vacuum furnace. Hasil dari XRD didapat mikrostruktur coating setelah aplikasi TWAS sudah kristalin, peningkatan temperatur membuat pertumbuhan butir dan rekristalisasi sisa fasa amorphous terus terjadi. Hasil dari pengamatan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) dan Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) peningkatan temperatur post-annealing membuat jumlah porositas di coating menurun kecuali coating Ni-Al. Dari pengujian microhardness vicker dan SEM-EDS menunjukkan kenaikan temperatur post-annealing membuat kekerasan terus meningkat akan tetapi fracture toughness menurun. Ketahanan oksidasi pada temperature tinggi menunjukkan semakin baik dengan peningkatan temperatur post-annealing. Dari pengujian hot-erosion dan pull-off test didapatkan bahwa ketahanan terhadap erosi temperature tinggi dan kekuatan rekat lapisan coating meningkat dengan kenaikan temperatur post-annealing. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan post-annealing merupakan faktor yang sangat penting dalam meningkatkan properti dari lapisan coating dengan beberapa pertimbangan dan kebutuhan dalam aplikasi di dunia industry terutama di paket boiler berbahan bakar batubara.

Iron-Chrome based metal coating is generally used to increase the life-time coal-fired boiler tube and super-heater tube. The addition of nickel in the process is carried out to improve adhesive properties. The most common method used is thermal spray coating. The advantages of this method are simple in application and repair, and low cost. The post-heat treatment coating on metallic coating applied by the thermal spray method can effect to adhesive properties, the number of porosity, the wear resistance, and has an influence on fracture toughness and oxidation resistance. In this study the coating were post-annealed at 500oC, 600oC and 700oC with holding time about 3 hours in vacuum furnace. The XRD test result that the coating phase is crystalline since the coating were sprayed, then grain growth and crystallization process of remain amorphous phases still occurs at temperature 700oC. SEM and EDS images show microstructure of coating is lamellar and percentages of porosity decreases because of increasing post-annealing temperature, but not for NiAl Coating. The Micro-hardness combined with SEM-EDS show the increasing of post-annealing temperature causes material hardness Increase and fracture toughness reduce. The pull-off and hot erosion test show the bonding strength and hot-erosion resistance increase with increasing post-annealing temperatures. The research result shows that the post-annealing treatment is a very important factor in improving the properties of the coating layer with some considerations and the needs of the application in the world of industry, especially in coal-fired boilers package.
