Abstract
Sumber daya pasir besi melimpah di Indonesia menjadi peluang besar untuk Indonesia mengolah bahan baku tersebut dengan meningkatkan kandungan besinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi waktu holding pada peleburan direct reduced iron terhadap recovery Fe dan kandungan Fe total dalam pembuatan pig iron dengan metode electric arc furnace. Terdapat empat variasi waktu holding, yaitu 2 menit, 4 menit, 6 menit, dan 8 menit. Metode penelitian dengan mereduksi pasir besi yang di briket dan ditambahkan campuran dolomit dan batubara, reduksi menggunakan muffle furnace pada temperatur 1350oC selama 10 jam lalu didinginkan yang menghasilkan produk DRI. Kemudian DRI dilebur dengan tambahan batubara dan fluks SiO2 menggunakan electric arc furnace dengan tegangan 16,2V dan arus 180A dan waktu holding mengikuti variabel untuk mendapatkan produk pig iron. Sampel pig iron ditimbang untuk mendapatkan nilai recovery Fe dan diuji menggunkan alat EDX dan XRD untuk mengetahui kandungan Fe total dari pig iron. Nilai kandungan Fe total tertinggi dari variasi waktu holding 4 menit dan terendah 2 menit. Dan, nilai recovery Fe tertinggi dari variasi waktu holding 6 menit dan terendah 2 menit.

smelting to Fe recovery and Fe content in the manufacture of pig iron by electric arc furnace method. There are four holding time variations, which are 2 minutes, 4 minutes, 6 minutes, and 8 minutes. Methods of research by reducing iron sand that in briquettes and added a
mixture of dolomite and coal, the reduction using muffle furnace at 1350 oC for 10 hours and then cooled that produce
DRI products. Then DRI was melted with additional coal and SiO2 flux using an electric arc furnace with a voltage of 16.2V and a current of 180A and the holding time variation
following the variable to get the pig iron product. The pig iron sample was weighed to obtain the Fe recovery value and tes ted using EDX and XRD to determine the Fe content of pig iron. The highest Fe content value of the holding variation is 4 minutes and the lowest is 2 minutes. And the highest Fe recovery value of the
holding variation is 6 minutes and the lowest is 2 minutes.
