Abstract

At natural gas processing plants, gas dehydration is commonly found in natural gas processing plants as a process to remove water in natural gas which can cause gas hydrates. The way to prevent the formation of gas hydrates that can potentially corrosive, in example by water absorption that one of them using TEG (Triethylene Glycol) in this study, controlled by Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) Control using Aspen Hysys simulation. This study aims to determine the characteristics of steady state and dynamics in the gas dehydration process, determine the appropriate control strategy and analyze the work of PID Controller. The steps taken include the collection and processing of data from the literature. Then simulate the steady state process with Aspen Hysys and validate the simulation result. Then sizing and changing to dynamic mode as well as dynamic characteristics (open loop). The next step is to control the process with PID control. Based on the research done, it can be obtained that the PID controller successfully used as a control on the regenerator column tool and TEG Flash Drum with a disturbance of ± 10% of water composition in sweet gas generates a response on each controller that can return to the set point desired. The performance analysis of PID controller using IAE shows a not so big error.
