Abstract

Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan studi termodinamika dan kinetika adsorpsi gas CH4 pada material karbon tertemplat zeolit-NaY. Karbon tertemplat zeolit-NaY (KTZ) disintesis menggunakan sukrosa sebagai prekursor karbon dan zeolit-NaY sebagai templat pada rasio sukrosa: zeolit 12,5:10. KTZ yang disintesis kemudian dikarakterisasi dengan difraksi sinar-X (XRD), mikroskop elektron scanning (SEM) dan isoterm adsorpsi-desorpsi N2 (BET). Pengujian adsorpsi gas CH4 dilakukan dengan metode gravimetri pada variasi suhu 30, 40 dan 50°C pada tekanan 1 bar. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan kapasitas adsorpsi CH4 pada KTZ sebesar 1,618 ; 0,988 dan 0,464 % berat berturut-turut pada suhu 30, 40 dan 50°C. Hasil data adsorpsi gas CH4 digunakan untuk menghitung kinetika adsorpsi dan studi termodinamika adsorpsi yang meliputi entalpi (ΔH), entropi (ΔS), dan energi bebas Gibbs (ΔG). Adsorpsi CH4 pada KTZ memiliki nilai entalpi (ΔH) -4,792 kJ/mol, entropi (ΔS) -0,014 kJ/Kmol, dan energi bebas Gibbs (ΔG) sebesar -0,562 ; -0,422 dan -0,283 berturut-turut pada suhu 30, 40 dan 50°C. ============== This research aims to investigate thermodynamic and kinetic of CH4 adsorption on zeolite-NaY templated carbon. Zeolite-NaY templated carbon (ZTC) was synthesized with zeolite-NaY as template and sucrose as carbon precursor on sucrose: zeolite ratio 12.5:10. ZTC was characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and isotherm adsorption-desorption N2 (BET). CH4 adsorption capacity on ZTC was examined using gravimetric method at temperature 30°C, 40°C, and 50°C and pressure 1 bar. The results showed that the CH4 adsorption capacities were 1.618, 0.988, and 0.464 wt.% at temperature 30°C, 40°C, and 50°C, respectively. The data research of CH4 adsorption was used to calculate kinetic of adsorption and thermodynamic study of adsorption include enthalpy (ΔH), entrophy (ΔS), and Gibbs free energy (ΔG). The enthalpy (ΔH) and entrophy (ΔS) were -4.792 kJ/mol and -0.014 kJ/Kmol. Gibbs free energy (ΔG) of CH4 adsorption on ZTC were -0.562; -0.422 and -0.283 at temperature 30, 40, and 50°C, respectively.
