Abstract

============ Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) has been made in order to obtain an optimized value of thermal conductivity. This research employs Al composition of 0.5%, 1%, 2% while Ca compositions are 15%, 25% and 33%. All of them were added by silica extreacted from Lapindo mud volcano, except for samples as controlled variable. The sample were further characterized by means of thermal conductivity, porosity and density. To meet industrial need in low thermal conductivity lightweight brick, our result indicates that 33% Ca, 1% Al, 0.29% silica from Lapindo mud yields thermal conductivity of 2.52 W/m.K. In addition this composition also results in porosity and density of 57.569% and 560.28 kg/m3, respectively. This findings may suggest that silica extracted from Lapindo mud is beneficial to improve the lightweight brick’s thermal conductivity, since each component added has its own effect on lightweight brick’s thermal conductivity as well as on it’s fabrication, therefore it is important to control the amount of each component used.
