Abstract
Sumber pemanas merupakan aspek penting dalam proses
pengeringan padi, hal ini bergantung pada analisis temperatur optimal
untuk digunakan pada proses pengeringan selanjutnya. Pengeringan padi
merupakan proses penurunan kadar air awal padi. Padi pasca panen pada
umumnya memiliki kadar air awal sekitar 20% - 26%. Metode
pengeringan terdiri dari dua macam, yaitu pengeringan konvensional
(dijemur di sinar matahari) dan menggunakan mesin pengering. Pada
umumnya, proses pengeringan padi harus mencapai 14%. Percobaan ini
menggunakan kapasitas 50 kg dan 100 kg gabah basah. Berdasarkan
data yang didapatkan, nilai temperatur yang paling optimal kedua
kapasitas ini adalah 600 C. Pada kapasitas 50 kg, pengeringan optimal
membutuhkan waktu 36 menit dan 3 detik, dengan hasil kualitas putih
dan utuh. Begitu pula pada kapasitas 100 kg yang membutuhkan waktu
1 jam 35 menit dan 20 detik.

Heating source is a priority in the rice drying process, it is necessary to
analyze the optimal temperature used in the subsequent drying process.
Paddy drying is the work to decrease post harvesting paddy moisture.
Post harvesting paddy typically has high moisture contents ranging from
20 % - 26 %. There are two kinds of paddy drying method, that are
conventional (relaying on the sun) and using dryer. Generally, paddy
drying process must reach moisture level at 14% to generate the best
quality standard. The methods of this experiment are designing and
building, and then doing experiment about the effect of the increasing
temperature to decrease moisture contents based on time needed to
reach moisture level at 14%. This experiment uses 50 kg and 100 kg of
wet rice. Based on the data obtained, the temperature optimum value of
both capacities(50 kg and 100 kg) is 600 C. For 50 kg capacity, the
optimum drying time is 36 minutes 3 seconds with white and intact
quality of rice, as well as the 100 kg capacity, its drying time is 1 hour
35 minutes 20 seconds.
