Abstract
Saat ini banyak penelitian untuk membangun sebuah jaringan
sensor nirkabel bawah air yang menggunakan sinyal akustik yang bersifat
realtime serta kapabilitas untuk self-configuration dan membawa
keuntungan yang signifikan untuk aplikasi seperti eksplorasi komersial,
perlindungan wilayah dan deteksi ancaman militer.
Perbedaan karakteristik dari komunikasi bawah air menuai
banyak paradigma yang sebaiknya ditinjau kembali. Diantaranya adalah
bandwidth yang tersedia terbatas, delay propagasi pada kanal bawah air
lima kali lebih besar dibandingkan kanal HF. Serta Bit Error Rate (BER)
yang tinggi dan kehilangan koneksi yang sementara bisa dialami karena
karakteristik dari kanal bawah air tersebut.
Analisis kinerja modem OFDM dilakukan pada penelitian ini.
Dengan berhasilnya sistem pada kanal ideal, selanjutnya disimulasikan
pada kanal AWGN serta kanal Rayleigh dimana kanal ini dapat
merepresentasikan kanal bawah air. Kinerja sistem yang dibuat belum
memiliki kinerja yang baik dimana BER mencapai 0,5115 pada kanal
bawah air yang direpresentasikan melalui speaker dan microphone. Hal
ini disebabkan belum adanya sinkronisasi phasa dan carrier serta estimasi
kanal.

There are lot of research to deploy underwater sensor network using acoustic signal that will enable to real-time monitring and capabilities for self-configuration and bring advantage significantly for aplication such as commersial aplication, monitoring area, and military detection.
The significantly different characteristics of communication in water require many networking paradigms to be revisited. Consequently, the major challenges in the design of underwater sensor networks are the available bandwidth is severely limited, propagation delay under water is five orders of magnitude higher than that in RF terrestrial channel and extremely variable, high bit error rates and temporary losses of connectivity can be experienced due to the extreme characteristics of under water channel.
OFDM acoustic modem analysis using TMS320C6416 in underwater channel environment is proposed. The result is present in ideal channel, then simulated it AWGn and Rayleigh channel which represented the underwater channel. The System has not reach the best performance which the BER is still 0,5115 in underwater channel represented by speaker and microphone. This is because ther is not channel estimation and carrier synchronization in the system
