Abstract

Kajian terhadap fraksi nafta dan light oil (LO) produk pencairan batubara sub-bituminus Sumatera Selatan ditujukan untuk mengetahui kandungan senyawa hidrokarbon dan potensinya sebagai bahan bakar cair serta mengetahui korelasinya terhadap karakter biomarkanya. Batubara dicairkan pada temperatur 450 °C dengan tekanan 120 MPa selama 60 menit. Hasil pencairan yang didapatkan adalah berupa produk cair berbentuk bubur (slurry). Slurry didestilasi vakum pada tekanan 10 mmHg untuk mendapatkan fraksi nafta, light oil (LO), middle oil (MO), heavy oil (HO), dan coal liquid bottom (CLB). Fraksi LO selanjutnya diekstraksi dan difraksinasi berdasarkan tingkat kepolarannya menggunakan kromatografi cair kolom untuk mendapatkan fraksi alifatik, aromatik dan polar. Fraksi nafta, alifatik- dan aromatik-LO selanjutnya dianalisa menggunakan kromatografi gas-spektrometri massa (KG-SM). Hasil analisa menunjukkan ketiga fraksi mengandung senyawa hidrokarbon penyusun bahan bakar cair, seperti hidrokarbon jenuh (n-alkana, alkana bercabang dan alkilsikloheksana) yang dominan dan hidrokarbon aromatik (alkilbenzena, naftalena dan turunannya, fenantrena dan turunannya serta pirena). Fraksi nafta memiliki rendemen 3,2 % terdiri dari sebaran hidrokarbon C8-C16 diketahui identik dengan bahan bakar bensin, sedangkan fraksi LO dengan jumlah rendemen lebih kecil 0,59 % terdiri dari sebaran hidrokarbon C9-C28 diketahui identik dengan bahan bakar kerosin.

The Study on naphtha and light oil fractions (LO) products of sub-bituminous coal liquefaction South Sumatra aimed to determined the content of hydrocarbons and its potential as a liquid fuel and determined the correlation between biomarker character with hydrocarbon contents of sub-bituminous coal liquefaction South Sumatera. Coal melted at a temperature of
450 °C with a pressure of 120 MPa for 60 minutes. Liquefaction results obtained are liquid products in the form of slurry. Slurry vacuum distilled at a pressure of 10 mmHg to obtained fraction of naphtha, light oil (LO), middle oil (MO), heavy oil (HO), and coal liquid bottom (CLB). LO fractions subsequently extracted and fractionated based on the level of polarity using liquid chromatography column to get a fraction of aliphatic, aromatic and polar. Naphtha fractions, aliphatic- and aromatic-LO then analyzed using gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The analysis showed the three fractions containing hydrocarbon constituent of liquid fuels, such as saturated hydrocarbons (n-alkanes, branched alkanes and alkylsiklohexane) dominanted and aromatic hydrocarbons (alkylbenzene, naphthalene and its derivatives, phenanthrene and derivatives, and pyrene). Naphtha fraction has a yield of
3.2% consisting of C8-C16 hydrocarbon distribution of the same mind with gasoline, while the LO fraction of the number of smaller yield of 0.59% consists of the distribution of the C9- C28 hydrocarbons of the same mind with kerosene fuel.
