Abstract

Studi mengenai sediment transport dalam berbagai kondisi telah banyak dilakukan
baik dalam bentuk eksperimen laboratorium maupun pemodelan numerik.
Penelitian ini berisikan laporan hasil eksperimen transportasi sedimen bed load
menggunakan gelombang irregular. Studi eksperimen ini bertujuan untuk
mengetahui pengaruh variasi tinggi dan periode gelombang terhadap perilaku
transportasi sedimen pada kondisi gelombang irregular serta mengetahui metode
yang lebih tepat. Perhitungan dimulai dengan mentransformasikan nilai elevasi
muka air hasil eksperimen di laboratorium ke dalam nilai orbital velocity
kemudian dilanjutkan dengan perhitungan tegangan geser dasar (bottom shear
stress) dan bed load sediment transport. Eksperimen ini dilakukan di wave flume
tank laboratorium lingkungan dan energi lautan Jurusan Teknik Kelautan ITS
menggunakan spektrum gelombang JONSWAP dengan variasi tinggi, periode,
dan kedalaman pada saat pembangkitan. Terdapat 2 metode yang digunakan untuk
menghitng teganga geser dasar, yakni metode Neilsen (2002) dan metode Tanaka
dan Samad (2006). Sedangkan untuk perhitungan bed load menggunakan metode
Suntoyo dan Tanaka (2009). Dari hasil eksperimen dan perhitungan dapat
disimpulkan bahwa variasi tinggi dan periode gelombang mempengaruhi perilaku
net bed load sediment transport. Adapun formula dari dua metode yang lebih
mendekati adalah metode Nielsen (2002) dengan nilai determinasi R2 = 0.5151.

Experimental study of sediment transport had been done in various conditions
both in the laboratory study or numerical model. This research report contains the
results of sediment transport experiments were carried out under irregular wave
condition. The goal of this experimental study is to find out bed load sediment
transport due to wave high and period varian under irregular wave and to
determine the better method. Calculations start from transforming the water
surface elevation into the orbital velocity then to the bottom shear stress
calculation and bed load sediment transport. Experiments conducted in wave
flume tank, marine environment and energy laboratory, Ocean Engineering ITS,
using JONSWAP wave spectrum with some variation of wave height, period and
depth. There are two methods used in this research those Neilsen (2002) and
Tanaka and Samad (2006) for calculating the bottom shear stress and using
Suntoyo and Tanaka (2009) method for bed load calculation. From the results of
experiments and calculations it can be concluded that the closest formula of
bedload sediment transport to the experimental results is shear stress method by
Neilsen (2002) with determination value, R2 = 0.5151.
